Yes, that's true. Execution speed is one of the reasons that why demo trading experience doesn't actually work in live trading. But off course a newbie shouldn't start directly on a live account even with the tiniest of the capital. First he must learn the basic concepts and then can proceed with a live account. And I think you meant "Micro account instead of Standard"

There is nothing like tough or easy business. it just based on how you play with it. If your only motive is to earn profits then off course its a tough business because you cannot be in profit always. There are so many of them.. Frankly i myself committed most of these mistakes during my newbie days.1. Fixed or variable spread depends upon your trading strategy. personally i prefer variable spreads as i am pretty much aware of the times when generally the spreads are high or low in the market. So I only prefer trading when market has good liquidity.

A calculative risk between 2-5% is acceptable depending upon your confidence in the trade idea. I never go beyond 5% in any condition.
