Hi Trading Shed

Just taking the advice given and not touching anything and just keeping an eye on my margin etc.

Mind you i'm at 46% DD (first time ever). Feeling the pain but hopefully will pull through

You can say that again.

I've just had an order on my eur / usd and an order on gbp /usd opened at .15, I'm starting to get concerned now.

My figures are now.

Balance 2153 Equity 1372 Margin 176 free margin 1182 margin level 781% (lowest its ever been)

they still need to drop apr0x 140 pips before they take profit. Am i dreaming? DD 45%

crossing legs as well now!

I don't know whether to be relieved or worried that the EA sold another tranche in the latest US session - while it's really nice to see the short exit come up another 80 pips it has dropped my Margin level from ~1050% to ~750%. By my thoroughly unscientific measurements (holding a marked piece of paper up to the screen to compare distances) the gap between balance and equity now is about equal to last November and it came back from that ok.

Hopefully, the EURUSD will continue downward to hit some TPs. Now that some of you have the larger positions open...the risk will rapidly become apparent if the market continues with the uptrend. Who wants to break that 1.3080 shelf??😀

Me, but then it still has to break 1.30000 which will probably be a darn sight harder ! :)

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on risk sentiment at that time. The big risk-on the past few days ins the only reason it got this high. The real nightmare you gotta watch is the advance GDP tomorrow. I suggest everyone start praying For surprisingly poor numbers. A better than expected will send the EURUSD to new highs in this trend, but surprisingly bad numbers could cause a break down through 1.3000. My guess, is there will be a lot of stops clustered under 1.3080. If something can push the market far enough to hit those, we should get a nice free fall down to 1.3000. Then a nice risk aversion could push it under 1.3000. Personally, think if it gets below 1.3000, we will see 1.2900 again. But, i could be wrong. There is always a first time for everything ROFL!!

Hi all, just started my $100K 2 week trial demo on my mini account broker ( miniumum 0.1 lot size)

One pair only = EURUSD, Risk = 1. 'Mini Account Detected' by the EA.

Tom's EA has opened its first trade at 1 full standard lot.
This seems way too high. Can anyone with large $100K+ equity with mini account broker comment ?

Hi all
I've just done some quick maths and need some one to check for me.
With the DD at the moment on the eur and gbp, along with open trades now at .15
In sterling I have worked out that if it goes up another 140 pips, this will equate to £900, which I think will
Wipe my account out , I have kept to what support advised but obviously now in panic mode. Am I right with these figures?

You need to contact support immediately! I had a big discussion about this on this thread previously. The version of TEA you are using has the risk level set incorrectly. I am going to venture to guess that you have it set to risk level 1 correct? If so, then the version of the EA you are using is hard-coded to use a minimum risk of 10%. If you are using risk 1 the initial opened lot size should have been 0.1 lot.

That sounds about right. If you don't have a huge equity pool, it adds up really quick when those larger positions open up. This is why everyone says martingales will blow your account eventually.

I am no sure 1 standard lot for 100k account is too high. I believe tomea use both total account balance and risk level to calculate lot size.
chrissav, tell me your balance, leverage, and total open size, I will calculate percentage loss from balance (not equity) before trigger margin call.

Thanks Fughe, appreciate the quick reply. I am using v1.88. Updated to 1.89, reinstalled and restarted, awaiting first trade.

Is it possible to calculate how may pips we can go in one direction before the 40% hard stop is hit ?
eg. (Year 2008 GFC moved ~2400 pips without significant retrace)

Is running one pair only, EURUSD with $10K on RISK=1, 0.01 start lot ($100K at 0.1 lot ) enough to survive for example ?
How many pips in one direction without retrace can one currency go before margin call or 40% stopout ?

Thanks in advance.

Quick update, first trade in. V1.89 . $100K, EURUSD only, RISK=1.
Mini account broker (min= 0.1 lot) opens up 1 full lot as the first trade !
Micro account broker (min = 0.01 lot) opens up 0.1 as would be expected.

This is very broken. I have sent details to support as well as a few mini account brokers to try.

I told everyone that the risk was wrong and nobody would believe me. The before purchase EA is hardwired to 10% on risk 1, 20% on risk 2 and 30% on risk 3. After you buy it, and receive the official purchased copy, the programming is changed to reflect the correct 1%, 2%, and 3% risk levels. Maybe it is a marketing tactic, maybe it is an honest mistake. Anyway, it was pointed out before, and now i am glad someone else has experienced it. Maybe they will fix it now.

Anyway....I had ran many 99% tick data backtests, and if you run it on a $100k account, and the initial opened position is 1 lot, the account will not survive. Same for $10k....If the initial opened lot size is not 0.1 lot, the account will not survive. This is more true now than it was previously since the EURUSD has proven a tendency to run in one direction further and faster than it ever used to. If the risk is setup correct, and you are actually using 1% for initial position, then you should be fine. Anything less and the account will most likely get burned. It is all about proper risk management.

Hi, Fughe
are you tom's ea user youself? are you a broker? I have no relationship with tomea except I am trading tomea with real money. I don't believe your commnets on risk setting and survivalship are correct. show me your trading results, demo or live, to back up your claim 'if you run it on a $100k account, and the initial opened position is 1 lot, the account will not survive.'

drsong123 - you are not reading correctly. This issue isnt about who trades what.
The problem is the opening lot size on a MINI account with 100K when RISK=1...... is 1.00 standard lot.
That is 10% risk when it should be 1% risk when RISK=1 setting.

THIS IS A PROBLEM ONLY ON MINI ACCOUNT BROKERS, when you have $100K equity.

Mini account broker (min= 0.1 lot) opens up 1 full lot as the first trade ! That is 10% RISK
Micro account broker (min = 0.01 lot) opens up 0.1 as would be expected with RISK=1

This EA is currently broken for those of use who trade with mini account brokers.
Test it yourself. Download an MT4 demo from a MINI broker and you will see the exact issue as soon as the EA places a trade.
Let me know if you have trouble finding a MINI account broker, they are far less common.
The EA under EXPERTS tab will explictly state, ' MINI ACCOUNT DETECTED'

Go back and read through the thread. You will see my discussion. I don't really care if you believe me. I don't trade TEA. If you read through my previous posts detailing all this, you will understand why. Besides, everything I said has been accurate so far as being tested is concerned. I am not a broker, and I am not selling anything either. Plus, i am definitely not going to waste my time setting up another demo account and doing another 2-week trial of TEA. If you don't believe me, do it yourself. Then you will have results that you can't claim to be faked.

I have run MT4 tester on TEA. risk level 1 results in about 7% on balance from closed trades and rl 2, 14% and rl 3, 21%. those are not same as short term paper drawdown from open positions.
