Hi Jason, I think the change that FXCM has made was to remove the "Premium account" which was a $5,000 minimum. With that gone from the web page, the $25,000 Active Trader account now sits where the "Premium Account" column used to sit. You do make some good points, however I think it's critical when comparing which broker got nuked and which ones didn't, to consider why???Some brokers did very well, but at the expense of their clients losses. That's apples and oranges. A STP broker takes honorable losses and a Dealing desk takes dishonorable profits. They should not be compared like that imo.To compare STP brokers with eachother and Dealing Desk brokers with eachother, would be fair. That comparison would hold true value imo. The same goes for earnings. Comparing a NDD with DD in earnings is irrelevant to a trade...

I believe it's non-core assets their selling. Not the retail side.the bucketshops did come out like a rose, but at the expense of their clients, I think that stinks even worse than a pile of poop.They profited from their clients losses, and direct conflict of interest which should be offered back in rebates imo.

Hi Jason,Could you comment on the recent Euro slams effects at FXCM and what FXCM has done to prevent a repeat. Specifically the concern is for USA clients who are victims of the over leveraged off-shore higher leveraged accounts at FXCM. I would ask this though. What would that 1 lot loss have been if one had been stuck long, in the euro during the cliff dive a week or so ago? Many couldn't get filled to get out fast enough. The higher leveraged accounts would have just escalated the losses automatically, but a lower leverage account should have closed the account before it could reach astronomical , catastrophic losses

My reason for asking was not so much for myself, but to gauge what most people would prefer, for instance when following a trading system or trade copier. My System uses between 7 and 10 leverage. I want my system to be appealing to others, as far as risk appetite goes. I do have another question in regards to both Oanda and FXCM. From this thread it looks like both pass the position to a third party thereby eliminating direct conflict of interest with the trader. I say "direct" conflict of interest because of course there is still possible ways to to have indirect conflicts of interest, such as third party "kick backs" and adjustments coming back to the broker, depending on outcomes of trades etc. An auto dealer for example can sell you a car at cost and state they didn't make a dime from you. I'm not sure I understand how taking the opposite side of a trade that goes against you can result in not taking a loss? If I win on a trade, then the person or company(even Oanda) that took the opposite side of my trade, took a loss. It's impossible to own something that goes down, and not have it devalue your account. On the other had, If a market maker owns something and it goes up, they can dump it and prevent themselves from making more. Yes, I've looked extensively, have you? I saw nothing that showed comparisons of spreads during high volatility periods. That's why I asked. If you know specifically where high volatility period spreads can be compared, please share. the problem I have with Oanda, is the inherent conflict of interest which exist between a Market Maker and a Profitable Trader. My success is their loss, so obviously they have to do things to control or limit successful traders. Look at it this way, if all Oandas Traders were successful, they would be out of business. If all FXCM's traders were successful they would be a thriving business. (since FXCM profits on executed trades, winners and losers). Hi Jason,If you could clarify a bit more on the account types at FXCM. I understand FXCM is a NDD, however that does not mean the third party liquidity sources you're using are not acting as dealing desks, either through algo's or other methods. Do all of the platform types, account types, and account sizes route to the same liquidity sources?Can you also tell if there are products other than currencies traded at FXCM? ThanksJohn

Thanks ge,Great info. News times and high volatility is really the best time to see what a broker is really capable of. Things can seem equal between brokers during normal trading, but when the pressure is on, that's when the difference is seen. Thanks Dmitry,Presently I't runs at about 7 to 1 leverage, for my testing and training purposes. Set to a 5 pip spread, and from 6 to 3% stop.

Thanks Ivan. I agree 10 is safe. I would question though, is it also enough to maximize Time and Potential. Safety without profit is no gain. Profit without safety is no gain either. Considering both sides of the equation are equally important to a successful system. Do you feel 10 is a satisfactory approach from a profit perspective as well?
