currently i'm using 30x leverage because the higher leverage can be a risk.

1:100 Maximum often lower at 1:10. No point using massive leverage . Too much risk

500:1 then take current account balance, divided by 20, so a $500 account would be using .25 per trade.
It does not work that way.

1. There is an account leverage let say 1:500
2. Which determines how much margin is needed for trade. For your example that would be
0.25 lot is 25 000 units
So for example 25 000 usd. With leverage 1:500 you need 25 000 / 500 = $500 for margin. For 0.25 EURUSD it would be 500 EUR.

3. Your example is description of rule for volume. So you would trade 0.25 on $500 account. That is silly.
You should have a rule for risk which consist of trade volume, SL and TP. So lets say for $500 account you should open 0.01 lot trades with SL and TP equal to 10.0 pips. So as result you get either $1 profit or loss.

my 350% gain in 15 trading days would beg to differ. 158 wins, 15 loses.
Really

Anyway I dont judge your trading results
but the very basic understanding of meaning of leverage, margin, trade size, etc...

Oh man
low leverage is 1:5 not 1:500
So do you approve low leverage or high?

It really depends what you want to do?

If you are a swing trader you don't need an account with a high leverage but if you are a scalper and make tiny but large trades, higher leverage will help you.

I think 1:10 is the best leverage.

Sorry for my mistake, I'm thinking 1:50 leverage is the best but it's my typing mistake.

I am in the EU so max leverage I can get is 1:50. That is not good because I need large deposit before I can trade

How you gonna say low leverage and then goes on to mentioning 500x leverage? Come on, that is way too high.

I believe that leverage is truly called the double-edged sword. I have myself made both profits and losses with it. I have never used leverage more than 1:50. What is the highest leverage you ever used? Did you make profits?

I think it is better to keep the leverage low. I usually keep it around 1:50 for particular trade situations.

I like to keep it low. Using 1:20 so far with fxview, for me that works well. Also, it depends on what am trading. But I don’t go beyond that level.

fully agree
I prefer to use max 1:50

but if the deposit is too small and I use EA so I can set 1:500

but anyway I recommend to use low lavarage

1:200 for 5.000/10.000usd
1:500 for 1.000usd
1:888 for 500usd

Yep fully agree, at the same time highs and lows can be such relative terms if you think of it. For me anything beyond 10x is high. Fxview is giving me 500:1 and instaforex gave 1000:1, but I never go beyond 10:1.

Yes it is good. Up to 50x leverage is fine imo.

I am not a fan of leverage, but they can be useful if you have smaller funds. If that was the case, I would go for 10x, max.
