Here's a question. Why would you not invest in something else that has a better potential gain AND a tax write off. For example, while doing this in my spare time, I am also a movie producer and director (actor too). We just made an entire film for $270,000 (in Eastern Europe, where its MUCH cheaper for pretty much everything) and those films make money. Not a hell of a lot, but most of them are are least 175% returns, depending on if you partner with the right company. Plus, the turnover is usually less than 8 months, and the entire thing can be a tax writeoff in a worst case scenari...

I don't say much unless I have something to say. Though i love playing devil's advocate. And yes, sometimes the right question leads to LOTS of information. That's why we have forums (imho) like this. EVERYONE can benefit from the conversations some people have. ;)And yes, I am pretty much a technical trader. But hearing someone elses thoughts on a subject is awesome and sometimes I learn something I didn't know or see a new way to think about things :)Thanks for replying and giving us your insights Bob :)

Interesting. So 3 times the norm? When would you say would be a good time to trade then? (and get out if you need to)?

I would say also check whatever website for the country you are looking in for something like the Better Business Bureau (u.s.) If there are a lot of complaints.... well, speaks for itself. Your idea seems sound, 10+ years and positive feedback is a good start. I prefer regulated myself, but it isn't mandatory imho. If you begin to narrow it down, to say 4 or 5, then search those particular firms with your google-fu, such as (Samplebroker problems; sampnlebroker scam; samplebroker success) etc. It could give you a better opinion. I would also not ivest too much money with them at fir...

Yeah, make sure you check them out thoroughly before you get in bed with them. You can get burned badly. But no reason to stick with something 3-4 times as expensive either.

Update; Unotelly is 4usd a month, but it allows you to look like you are from anywhere in the world. I use it to watch U.S. and U.K. Netflix from wherever I am at.

Laptop with docking station (usb3, asus perhaps) that can handle 2 extra monitors. Plugs in and you can forget it.If you are really worried about it, make sure you have a UPS (universal power supply) on your system, including the modem, and get an optical line to the house, or a lan cable from your local company if you are lucky enough to be that close (my power goes out and my router is on the ups, and with the cable from them, i still have internet on my lappy even when power is down.)Any decent new laptop will do.
