As a Quant developer, I'd say the most important thing to consider when growing your portfolio through trading is achieving safe and steady profit, rather than high profit.
Nice post, this is much closer to how it really works than all the “flip 100 to 10k” stuff. Most people blow up because they chase lottery-style returns instead of thinking in years and managing risk like a business. Small, boring daily/weekly numbers compounded over time are what keep you in the game.Survive first, grow second. The market’s pretty good at punishing anyone who tries to skip that order.
