As I have mentioned, prices advanced to 1.1410 and then got pushed back because of the event described above. This is often a good spot for short-term traders to place a limit/sell order.Tomorrow, a new bar will start on the monthly chart and the trend situation may change for a while. One easy way to spot a consolidation or congestion is, when bars have alternating opens and closes.Usually there are one or two bars that have the open lower than the close (uptrend within the bar) followed by one or two bars where the open and close position is in the opposite direction / open price is higher th...

1.1386 is the 23-week high1.1495 is the 30-week highit is also important to know, that the 20 MA on the monthly chart will meet the current price at near 1.1410This may cause a major pull-back, especially because the monthly chart is in congestion with currently 13 bars.

On January 6. I posted these signals off the weekly chart.Weekly chart:The weekly chart shows a price consolidation with currently 6 bars.As I have written before, the 6th bar in consolidation is the most difficult to trade and should be avoided. There are 3 legitimate MAJOR entry signals visible.Buy-stop at the high from last week (1.0991 on our chart) plus 1 pip (ASK price)Buy-stop at the high from 3 weeks ago (1.1058 on our chart) plus 1 pip (ASK price)The low of 5 weeks ago is also a legitimate MAJOR entry signal as it is a down-hook. (1.0515 minus 1 pip BID price)--------------------------...

EUR/USD entry signalsI do not forecast markets, nor do I predict trend directions.I read price-bar formations which give entry signals when they are present. There are major and minor entry signals which determine the risk to be taken on a trade (lot size) as well as how the SL is to be managed.Monthly chart:Of the last 4 price bars, 3 consecutive bars were in the same (down) trend (open was higher than close price)The most recent finished bar (December) points in the opposite direction, therefore is a trend reversal (open low and close price is higher). the December bar is also an outside bar ...

EUR/USD long-term chartswhen looking at the Q-chart of this pair, one can see that the 2. quarter produced an inside-reversal-bar (IRB), followed by a doji bar in the 3. quarter. More often than not, the combination of IRB/Doji indicates a trend reversal (in any time frame). This last quarter of 2015 has an open price of 1.1147 and there's always the possibility that this quarter will close again near the open price.Since the low of the 1. Q of this year has not been violated, (1.0460), the high of the 3rd Q and the high of the 4th Q (after the bar is finished) are legitimate buy/stop entri...

Where prices will go next is irrelevant when trading price bar formation. You trade what you see on the charts (that's the rule) - and not what you or others' think. That's why we don't bother guessing where prices will possibly be in 6 months from now.But consider this...The USD, CAD & Mexican Peso will disappear from the face of the earth, and will be replaced by a new currency, called the "AMERO". This could happen pretty soon, potentially before the end of Obama's term. And he's got less the 12 months left. When looking at the DJIA long/term charts, chanc...

I read this statement a couple of days ago. Today's move to the upside confirms that we actually "know nothing"!And that is a fact. Only the market operators know where they will move prices next. These are the ones that move the markets with billions of $$, and that includes most governments.Look at the home page of this website. On the bottom you see a section called "Community Outlook"It shows you exactly how WRONG traders are guessing the direction. But when they open a position, they are convinced that prices will move their way.Last time where there was a chance to g...

EUR/USD daily chartwhen looking at the daily chart, we see the highest high of August at around 1.1713in September we see the highest high at around 1.1460.This September high point is considered the first attempt to take out the August high. This month it is possible to see another attempt to take out the August high of 1.1713This attempt is called the "second time around", which makes the high from September (1.1460)a major entry price point.Add 1 pip to the highest point of September (1.1460 on our charts) and place a buy-stop order.1st exit would be near 1.1780 (cavity-stop)2nd ex...

EUR/USD updateThe signal from last week Thursday (daily chart) broke as expected, as the weekly and monthly charts all had major entries in the same direction.Major entry signals on the monthly chart do not form very often and therefore are powerful entries. The signal from Thursday (daily chart, buy-stop @ 1.1213 + 1 pip) is now nearly 500 pips plus and is headed toward the GAP at 1.2000.When trading long/term charts, the trick is to look at a higher time-frame as the trade is on, for orientation purposes.Lower/faster time-frames are irritating and one can easily confuse a temporary profit tak...

EURUSD / weekly chartAs I have posted on August 20. the second-time-around on the daily chart was an excellent entry and so far approx. 170 pips plus. The weekly chart currently shows the same type of entry, as I have outlined in my last posting (with exact pricing to enter a trade)This entry-price is also a major buy-stop entry on the monthly chart, as well as on the Q-chart, to trade to near the GAP at 1.2000.Keep in mind, a good trade can last 5 to 10 barsI also described the current congestion on the weekly chart, and that we do not trade bars 11 through 16.Nr. 17 is the first bar we trade ...

EUR/USD - weekly chartupdate plus signala very similar situation is present on the weekly chart as I described yesterday on the daily chart. After a prolonged down-trend in 2014 and the first 10 weeks of 2015, a high point was established in May this year, when prices turned in the opposite direction. This high price point on our chart is 1.14655 weeks later in June, this high was attacked for the first time (first-time-around), and failed. The high of that week on our chart is 1.1435, and is a major buy-stop entry point (high plus 1 pip is the exact entry price)The current attack on the entry pr...

EUR/USD daily chartupdate plus signalthe high from 6 days ago (excluding today's bar) is a major buy-stop entry price (high plus 1 pip)to avoid confusion - on our chart this high is 1.1213this high is called "first time around" to take out the high from last month (1.1215)A new attempt is called the "second time around" which makes the first time around a major buy-stop entry price.SL should be initially places at the low of this month / the lot size needs to be calculated according to the desired risk (*my previous posting)If this signal gets filled, it may turn into a...

EUR/USD weekly chart.I have described several times in my postings the characteristics of consolidations/congestion/trading-range.On the weekly chart, there is a measuring bar (MB) from 15 weeks ago.The MB has a high of 1.1289 and a low of 1.0818 (on our charts). All bars following this bar have either their close price or their open price (or both) inside the high and the low of the MB.This week, the bar count is Nr. 16We do not trade any bars between 11 and 16.Nr. 17 is the first bar we trade (highest risk!).Best bars to trade are bars 21 through 29, which historically have the best chance to...

EUR/USD daily chart updateFriday's bar was a doji bar.As I have mentioned several times in my previous postings, doji bars in consolidation or congestion often are an indication that prices will break out soon. Usually 1 to 3 bars later. In this scenario, the doji bar is bar nr. 8 in the consolidation.A consolidation consists of max. 10 bars. Bar nr. 10 is the last bar that can be traded according to the rules of price-bar formations.

EUR/USD - daily chartplace your SL 5 pips below the low from Friday.measure the distance from SL to entry price and calculate your lot size. How to properly calculate the lot size I have described in an earlier posting. If you do it this way, it will be a trade just like any other trade.Never trade without a SL, always calculate your risk, and you will never regret a trade. The high from Friday is the "early" hook entry. The way we do it is - we let prices go through it once, and take the trade on the second time around. (by watching the 1 hr chart)If prices continue to rise and we miss ...

1. please note, my last post was not a signal. When I post a signal (and I seem to be the only one here) then I mark my posting as a signal. (check my history)My last posting is just a simple explanation as to how to trade a hook! This rule is good for any time-frame in any market!2. I have taught price-bar formations (in seminars and private tutoring) for well over 20 years in the USA and Europe, and over the years have encountered many different characters in the trading business. There are the ones that appreciate new information, and there are the ones that don't.
