How many pips should a reasonable trader make a month?

"I think this is the seventh time. Lucky seven, maybe." Terry Gilliam fancies yet another bash at making the Don Quixote film. I mention it only because I too used to chase the key question down the rabbit-hole of subterranean trading: "How many pips, oh god somebody please tell me how many... before the fat lady sings."Then I came to know that tradnig about the numbers, its about the approach i.e. it actually depends on the style of your trading, the, as it were, cut of your gib. Market keeps going up and down. Or, to quote Don Quixote (no, really), "...he who's d...

Ah, yes, the key conundrum: with whom shall I entrust my trading moolah?Well, most (surviving) brokers are regulated (if you're a cynic, that won't mean much), but, when it comes to conducting due diligence ("Crikey, do you need an anaesthetic...?"), you're looking at Spread, Trading Platform, Leverage, Support (preferably in-house, where you're communicating with people who are empathetic to your account status), and Execution.http://www.flickr.com/photos/111134236@N06/11995339146/Your're also seeking out Reviews by authentic 3rd parties (for example, reviews of ...
Diffrence between real & demo trading

Well, I do agree with the statement that there is not much difference between demo and live trading. I also agree with the statement that there is no comparison between demo and live trading. See how torn I am between the tomaytoe / tomahtoe divide? To risk-manage the consistent kissing of your knee across the hard road of learning how to ride the forex unicycle, you have to start somewhere, or, to paraphrase Groucho Marx, trading is the art of looking for gains, finding losses, diagnosing incorrectly and applying the wrong remedies. And now, the easy bit: you're only as good as the tools th...
How to differentiate luck from skill in trades

For sure I agree, but I think some demo contests can give you some inkling - even some simulated real-world experience - about the factors influencing successful (or otherwise) real account trading. Contests here at myfxbook, for example, and also forexrazor (which seem focused on drawdown, some would say obsessively so).Luck v. Skill - I think you can lose more of your money through lack of skill, but I also think you make real money on trading when you trade (successfully) at dollar volume. http://www.flickr.com/photos/111134236@N06/11305271746/
Humans vs. Robots

The way I see it is that those who follow price action, whether it be following chart patterns (support/resistance, trendlines, fibs, candlesticks) or using their naked eye, prefer the subjective/interpretive element of trading. Whereas those who follow indicators like the rule-bound element of it. A case can be made for each I suppose, and pitfalls are plenty with each method. There is the complaint of how indicators lag - yet there are plenty of attempts to make indicators lag a whole lot less, though these attempts tend to add more noise in the picture. However, because it is easier to foll...
The Martingale strategy i good?

I think Martingales are exciting but dangerous creatures. They can build your account up faster than any other EA, and they can eventually destroy your account in one fell swoop. No-stops is a problem in itself. Most systems fail miserably without having well defined stops. The inseparable companion of no stops is overstaying the position. Within this time, the price sometimes runs very far away. Great thread, thank you.
what broker you use? say name, site and than like

Hi trora,Excel Markets provide really competitive spreads served up in a commission-free account with a small initial deposit. What I really like about them is that they report true averages taken from tick data for all trading periods during the previous week, including periods of low liquidity such as Sundays. I trade on a weekly plan pulled together on that day, so I depend on accuracy but I do lean heavily also on economic news reviews.I'm sure there are other brokers out there and am always looking for the best deal, so let me know!
