You could check any new trades - mouse over the profit column to see if magic numbers (id numbers, 5 digit, not trade numbers) for new trades or new version match those of any existing trade pairs. If so hopefully all should be ok, if different numbers for same pairs could be trouble though.

Looks like new version 1.89 is on FTD website for those who want or need to start from scratch - not sure what happens to existing trades if you uninstall old version and/or re-install using the new setup file though - careful in case it orphans existing trades! Perhaps Ivan or Dustin could tell us the answer to this question?
exsisting trades will be picked up by updated version and will remain managed just the same way

For those who haven't received a notification email with new version and guidelines - please send a message to [email protected] and we will forward you one

   Hi Paulrozza

Thanks for your reply. I've checked my files and the ex and dll in Toms folder are the same as in my meta trader (latest version). I've managed to re establish the 1.88 version but unsure what to do next. Wondering if they may release an upto date version without the glitches.

Concerned if I try to update again I will have to go through the whole reinstall just to try and esatblish a connection with the old version.

I do realy like this ea, but i am very annoyed that support did not anticipate the problems we are finding and have left us to our own devices.

If you're still having issues with update - please contact me in live chat and I will help you through remote PC control

=========================================================

I just like to put my 50cents in here -- technically autoupdater feature is not yet perfect, sometimes there might be issues especially if there is something about user account type in windows and folder permissions. This is very individual and depends on setup. Typically updater works ok in most of the cases, but not in all of them. For those who are experience issues - please don't hesitate and contact us in live chat, we will easily set you up through remote control. This is the best way to settle this, because emailing takes to much time

Thanks for your patience and understanding. Have a goodluck in your trading.

P.s. I will try my best to monitor this section as well as user forum in order to give feedback and assistance for those who needed it

Ivan:
Thanks for your feedback here. For what it's worth, I have been running Tradency / FXDD live with no problems. I did find out that you can actually run MT4 at the same time via FXDD to watch the trades which have been executed on the mirror. Very nice.

Thomas, yes this setup could be used, just make sure not to open any trades aside of MT4, since this won't be displayed under a mirror account and might cause margin issues.

However this option is good for monitoring

Well,
that was the easiest update I have done on an EA so far!
I just closed all the MT4 platforms, restarted one and clicked to update the EA. Restarted again and updated.

Repetead the process for the 4 I have running and they were all updated!

I would also like to thank Ivan for the recent participation in both forums. It was much needed and I for one appreciate it.

Thank you

Decided to wait for the weekend here to update...seems that may have been a mistake. Updater has malfunctioned and support is a Monday to Friday type of deal it seems. Even if I decide not to update right now, I also seem to now lack the ability to authenticate as the authentication software tells me I have an invalid email address or password. The second issue is likely the result of changing from the monthly payment schedule to paying for the EA outright but bottom line is that I just can not run the EA and markets open now seems too close for comfort even though they only just shut yesterday.

I see how that might be a problem....
Did you close all MT4 instances? To make absolutely sure I went to the processes list and found one MT4 process still running although I did close all of them.

If you have more than one installed, you should probably update one, close it and update the other one (during each update, all instances should be closed). If it gives you error messages, maybe try to open and close each MT4 a couple of times (I did it twice each)

I have noticed in the past that if you have an MT4 process running (even if it appears that all MT4s are closed) you receive a .dll error from Tom's EA, probably because multiple instances are trying to access the same .dll file.

Maybe the above is rubbish and any IT guy who wishes to put me straight...go ahead!😕

Hey there Tradingshed.

Indeed i have made absolutely sure that my MT4 instances are closed and any processes related to MT4 are not running on my VPS.

I do get an error message from the updater that reads:

'Cannot open file 'C:\Program Files\Toms EA\UninstLog2.log'. The system cannot find the file specified.'

That prevents me from updating the EA which is a concern in and of itself but not being able to authenticate since my purchase method was changed is a larger concern and no one being available from support at this time is rather frustrating.

Hey tradingshed

That's the exact same problem I had, for some reason the password failed to work after the update. The only resolution is to wait until support is available to get it changed/refreshed. After this everything was fine and v1.89 works fine.

You should be ok, as you won't see major liquidity until around the start of the London session, and I would think you would be able to get hold of support by then. I know that's not very comforting, and the real killer is the wait.

Support responded quickly for me, and rectified the problem within an hour or two, although I chose to update during trading hours. Good luck my friend!

It sounds like you might have a file missing: UninstLog2.log This is a simple text file which lists the directories of your MT4s installations, possibly to aid uninstalling of the EA.

I am not an IT master but, have you opened your Toms EA directory to check that the file is there?

If not, no harm in trying something on Sunday as support will be closed;
I will PM you my copy of the file, open it in notepad and change the details of the installation directories by typing your own in (it will have mine in it) and save it in your Toms EA directory. That might work.

If the file is there, well, no idea... :-)

If the above does not work, you have not lost anything as markets are closed and a text file is unlikely to cause any problems.

hope it helps, I know how you must feel!

Take this idea at your own risk as I am not an IT expert :-)

Hmm...well thank you for the idea tradingshed. I tried it after looking at the log file you sent me and the updater did seem to run though it didn't update much of anything. On the plus side, my email and password started working again...so I guess that issue got resolved by ghosts in the machine or some such thing.

Since it's the weekend, I decided to just remove Tom's EA and installed the new version available via the member's area. Since the issue is fixed now, I just hope that some disruptive action isn't taken on the back end to mess with my authorization credentials.

I used the EA on 3 different accounts. The first one I started 2011-11-14. Later I added 2 other account each with about € 2.500. In average I have 4 pairs per account, in all I have the EURUSD and GBPUSD, the other pairs are spread over the 3 accounts. One of my account is hurt by the JPY. I do not understand how the AE determined the lot size. For the buy EURJPY it takes the following size 0.01/0.01/0.01/0.03/0.06/0.09/0.12/0.12/0.09. The first 3 are closed now each with a loss of about 600 pips. What I do not understand is the size of the last one. I was expecting a lot size of 0.15. Do anyone knows why it took 0.09 instead.

Anton,

The reason why you did not see a lot size of .15 is because remember when .12 was active a position was stopped out for a big loss. I'm sure you remember that big loss because its the same one the most of the traders on this forum complaining about it eating their profits. Meanwhile, the rest of the USD/JPY basket stayed open. Therefore, after that big loss was closed out it mean that the next trade that would open would be reduced lot because it is now accounting for a smaller draw down (or smaller negative basket).

Some may say that this is unfair since the next trade is not covering for the one that was closed out for a loss. But I used it and an opportunity to really see how the EA trade. The martingale algorithm multiplying factor is only accounting for the basket of open trades. Therefore, it is proving that the EA is not a holy grail. The amount that was stopped out from the rest of the basket for a loss is just that; A LOSS. This is trading and a loss is what you have to accept.

But from what I see so far, Tom's EA is excellent!!

incorrect pwd issue might appear because of firewall related issues or incorrectly unpacked .dll . Sometimes this might happen, especially on VPS

After starting up MT4 check up Terminal -> Experts for any unusual messages, if you'll see nothing than update was successful and everything would be ok.
If there would be any errors contact us in live chat on Monday and we will set you up
