France Industrial Production MoM
Industrial production in France is a measure of the output of firms that are part of the industrial sector of the economy as a whole. The most important industry is manufacturing, accounting for 86% of overall production. Among the most important segments within Manufacturing are: Food products and beverages (which account for 13% of total production); Machinery and equipment goods (13%), including computer, electronic, and optical products (5%); Basic metals and fabricated metal products (12%); Other manufacturing, repair, and installation of machinery and equipment (12%); Transport equipment (10%); Rubber products and other mineral products that are non-metallic (8%); And chemicals and chemical products (6%). 11% output is accounted for by electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning. 1% of total output is accounted for by water supply, sewerage, and waste management and cleanup, with mining and quarrying accounting for another 1%.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.

German Unemployment Increases Less Than Forecast
Unemployment in Germany increased in December albeit at a slower-than-expected pace with the onset of the winter break, official data showed on Friday. The number of jobless increased by 10,000 in December, a bigger increased compared to the 6,000 in November, the Federal Employment Agency reported. Unemployment was forecast to rise by 15,000.

Eurozone Manufacturing Sector Continues To Shrink
The euro area manufacturing sector continued to shrink in December on accelerated contractions in both orders and output, final data compiled by S&P Global showed on Thursday. The HCOB manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index fell slightly to a three-month low of 45.1 in December from 45.2 in November. The flash reading was 45.2.

German GfK Consumer Sentiment To Rise In January
German consumer confidence recovered marginally towards the end of the year and it is forecast to rise again in January, survey data jointly published by the market research group GfK and the Nuremberg Institute for Market Decisions showed on Thursday. The forward-looking consumer sentiment index posted -21.3 in January, up from -23.1 in December. The score was expected to rise to -22.6.
