Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages which account for 31.1% of the total weight and transport which account for 12.1%, are the most significant categories in the consumer price in Georgia. Among the other items on the index are: healthcare (9.8%), housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (8.2%), furnishings, household appliances and equipment, routine house maintenance (6.4%), recreation and culture (6.2%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (6%), education (5%), miscellaneous goods and services (4.8%), hotels, cafes, and restaurants (4%), communication (3.2%) and clothing and footwear (3.1%).
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the GEL while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the GEL.
