United States Retail Sales MoM
The retail sales report in the United States provides an aggregated assessment of retail goods and services sales over the course of a month. The most dominant types of retailers are: motor vehicle & parts dealers (approximately 20% of total sales), food & beverage stores (13% of total sales), general merchandise stores (12.5%), food services & drinking establishments (11%), gas stations (10%), non-store retailers (9.2% of total sales), building material & garden dealers (6% of total sales), health and personal care stores (6% of total sales), other store retailers (2.3%), furniture stores (2%), electronics & appliances stores (2%), and sporting merchandise, hobby, book & music stores (1.7%).
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the USD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the USD.

A report released by the Commerce Department on Friday showed new residential construction in the U.S. surged by much more than anticipated in the month of December. The Commerce Department said housing starts soared by 15.8 percent to an annual rate of 1.499 million in December after tumbling by 3.7 percent to a revised rate of 1.294 million in November.
