Tracking manual oanda account?

Open trades placed on OANDA platform aggregate to your MT4 platform, so yes you can track performance. Reason being that MT4 server is actually just a bridge from the FXTrade server.Basically just setup MT4 with Myfxbook like normal then place trades using OANDA platform. The only thing that won't aggregate to is open limit orders (buy/sell limit) but those placed on MT4 will aggregate to your OANDA platform.

I can tell from reading you three individuals' posts that you are EA fans, so obviously your debate will be that equity is king. Every trader is different and has different preferences. Quite frankly at the end of the day, as long as I'm making money one way or the other then that's all that matters. 😎In live trading I never open more than 2 trades at once and leave them open for less than a few days. Now if I was a heavy long-term trader or one who trades multiple positions at the same time, then, yeah, equity might be significant. But all that matters to me is the balance...

Interesting video, this is very encouraging to me. I started in stocks at 18 and evolved to Forex by age 19. I am close to 21 now and halfway through my Bachelors degree. I'm not sure whether I will go work for a firm one day or remain independent. Three weeks from now I will find out if my calculated end-of-year gain is still high in probability 😀

I agree with Ben about the blind leading the blind. As well as the blind leading the dumb. It is not uncommon to see someone who has traded a system on their DEMO account for ONE MONTH try to solicit their "account management" services. 🙄 I also see a lot of EAs with XXXXX% gains and I just laugh. Completely unrealistic, yet some buy into them.

Thank you for your posts. IMO trading based on equity is "hold and hope" trading, which can be dangerous. Equity is a nice way to show growth but personally means nothing to me because it doesn't equal real money until it becomes balance. Good luck with your systems, though. Unfortunately mine can't really be coded into a good EA because it requires trader discretion, candlestick pattern recognition, and so forth. Exceptions are also made to the rules, especially during news. I don't know MQL4 but I have software that can code pretty much whatever I want and uses plain-En...

Recent GBP/USD loss was just plain over-zealousness....hoped I could double dip going on the way back up...dummy me. 🙃Guess exiting the short trade before the weekend wasn't the brightest idea, considering GBP has dropped what, another 100 pips?! 😂 Oh well lolCurrently in Yen trade, and it's pretty interesting...came within 0.2 pips of hitting the stop loss but did not hit it! 😱Again, should have waited until the downward momentum eased before jumping in. Trade still under water, but I think USD/JPY is due for a correction rally from the astounding ~100 pip drop...

Contest account leverage started at 1:50....But in regards to change of margin, you may be onto something because last week the most ITA40 I could buy was 100 lots, and last night I could buy 500 lots, even though I had much less money!

Well for being such "junk" it works pretty good. The server is bridged. Your limit orders placed on FXTrade platform do not populate to Metatrader. If MT4 is down you can trade on FXTrade, and if the Java platform is down you can trade on MT4. Or you can trade both at the same time. At least this is what I have experienced.Also, Oanda offers trading on mobile so no need to call home 😉You can trade on your phone.

I actually started at Forex.com-- back in 2009-- but to my knowledge they only had their proprietary trading platform at the time. The feed was great and the large buttons were nice but I did not like it at all because you could too easily place trades by mistake. All brokers are in the business to make money off their traders, so each one has pros and cons.Oanda deposits are processed anywhere from instantly to just a few minutes if you use a credit card or pre-funded PayPal account. Withdrawals are definitely slower....take about a day to process...but I have never had any problems. Checks a...

Well FXCM has been freezing like crazy during the contest...they are major broker...so now you know of another one. 😉But I have been with Oanda 2 years and never locked out once. The server does go down about once every 6 months (usually only for a few minutes), but I have never experienced it happen during news trading. There will be a 1-2 second delay in order execution (not a freeze since prices keep moving, a delay) immediately DURING news on Metatrader (I place orders before...either right or wrong...if you wait usually you're wrong), but that is expected of any broker.....so ...

lol....then move to another country. No joke, I've known a few Forex traders who moved to Australia and South Africa because they got tired of the U.S. nonsense. Things are just going to get tighter and fewer offshore brokers will be taking U.S. clients, so either accept it or leave. That's just the way it is.I am with Oanda and though leverage is limited to 50:1, it is PLENTY enough for me. If your trading system is good enough and you utilize a wise money management strategy then you can make money, no problem.
