You don't know who Lex van Dam is!!!? 😲

I doubt he has an account here (in fact I'm pretty sure he doesn't), he is a hedge fund manager... a very successful one with high end clientele. He only recently started courses on forex, his training focus has primarily been about shares and related 'company' type instruments (etf, cfd, etc.).

But yes, doesn't relate to the forum topic at all.
For every loss there should be at least an equal and opposite profit.

Seems like your against people getting free information that is actually useful and it does cover forex, I had to laugh when you asked if he had a myfxbook account, why not sell courses if your a successful hedge fund manager its another income stream plus he enjoys what he does.

The point is
Successful hedge manager has no need to sell courses.
The point is
how can he prove his success
The point is the website is not much convincing
The point is that this advertisement clearly does not belong to forum about demo vs real trading.
etc..
I am done with that matter and you should better stick to forum topics dear.

Yes absolutely, demo and live accounts are more or less same. The difference is psychological as while trading in live account our real money is at stake which make one feel more concerned. However, yes having well developed strategy can make you succeed and overcome this psychological barrier. Demo accounts can also be used for testing strategies before going live.

I cannot disagree, however I feel like when I start live trading, my strategy is going to fail.. with numerous positions in a row so that my start is going to be super hard. I guess there is no other way than trying. The Fear is strong in me. Perhaps I need a few more months of practice. Does it lead to conclusion 'demo trade for as long as you need to gain full confidence with your skills'? Anyone had similar feelings?

Yes it’s true that one must demo trade for as long till he gains enough confidence. However, even starting with the small real account should be taken time. If a trader is not confident then he must not get indulge in live trading so early.

Hi! I had not read this thread, but you're totally wrong if you think a demo account works like a real one. Since then there is nothing similar in the absolute, the demo account proves the broker in the market, there is no guarantee that good trades and winnings in the demo account will occur the same in the real account. That is not how it works.

So you mean demo account is not on forex at all and has different laws? Or you simply mean that price movements are never 100% sure and holy grails dont exist? - which is not solid enough imo to prove that demo is totally different. If I develop my own personal working strategy on demo account I am 100% sure that it is going to fail on live account because demo is totally different? Is there any guarantee in forex at all, at any time?

You will not find a system that has a 100% perfect always win history.

Holy grails do not exist.

I suppose that in theory they 'could' exist, but the likely hood of it being ever made available to the general public would be infinitesimally small. Why would anyone release it and make it available? They'd basically have infinite wealth at their disposal.

which is not solid enough imo to prove that demo is totally different.
Demo account price feeds are often different from Live account price feeds.
Different spreads, different response times, etc etc etc.

If I develop my own personal working strategy on demo account I am 100% sure that it is going to fail on live account because demo is totally different? Is there any guarantee in forex at all, at any time?

If you feel 100% that you're going to fail on a live account, then you should absolutely NOT put money in your live account.

You asked if there is any guarantee at all? NONE. There is no guarantee of making money with forex.

If you think you are going to fail, then you've already failed, and should probably keep learning and practicing your strategy, or not trade at all.

In fact all my questions above were rhetorical. I used such measures to prove that I disagree with a tesis like: 'demo is totally different just because'. But anyway thank you for your comprehensive and serious answer.

The only noticeable difference to trader-wannabe like me is that with real account, real emotions start to interfere.

It depends on broker.
On good broker you wont see much difference demo vs. real.
Moreover if your strategy has lets say 10% a month profit on demo it should have at least 9% a month on real.
P.S. did you ever try to copy trades from demo to real to compare execution?

I do not understand why people believe that in forex trading they should have a guarantee of profit. Simply if you are good at trading you will make money, if not, you lose money, it is realistic.

New investors fund a small account with a few hundred dollars and then expect to become billionaires over night. :)

I agree with you. If a person develops good skills, controlled emotional discipline, and a solid understanding of what really moves the markets, you can make a very good income from trading. But it takes a lot of work and education in order to make a good income from it.

Do any traders actually believe that they will have any guarantees for profit? Usually even when you learn the basics you're told that Forex trading carries quite a bit of inherent risk.

Well there is a huge problem of under capitalization leading to over trading.
User with like 1000 deposit would like to see $200 each month. This is not realistic for long term and at the end he will end up with zeroed account.

This is the holy grail of trading what you explain. Everyone should strive for it 😄 I agree that it takes lot of work!
