I opened both EURUSD H1 and USDCHF H1 charts in a demo account but installed EA only on EURUSD. Are these currency pairs linked inside the EA or must i install EA on USDCHF chart as well? EA (v3e) is trading now only in EURUSD (and by the way took a MASSIVE loss a few minutes ago)

I do not know why as that has never happened during my backtests and actual trading. You can post the experts and journal logs for the day or days the 5 trades were opened and I will see if I can find out why.
I am not able to post the journal and the expert right now because i am currently using different computer, will post the info when i can.But base on your myfxbook, currently you also have 7 open trades, did you change the maxtrade value?

Pairs are not linked within EA code, Need to load EA to both pairs.

Yes, 4 open USDCHF and 3 open EURUSD trades. MaxTrades=4 means maximum trades per currency pair.

I presume the time to activate trading is critical, since the robot is making decisions based on the daily close. Would that be shortly after 2400 hrs. GMT?

What did the version 4f see that the previous version did not see, that prevented it from making the trade that interrupted the beautiful equity curve? I am trying to figure out why it was smart enough to anticipate a problem brewing.

If Possible, EA should be activated at GMT+3. The EA was developed on broker FXDD which is GMT+3.

v4f is only active at new bar start, while v2 and v3 versions are active all the time. So trade entries and exits can be different.

Thanks very much for this EA, it has allowed me to progress into the automated trading arena.

Does the stoploss and trailing stop need to be changed in any way to allow for 5 digit brokers? for example, 590 trailing stop and 6450 stoploss.

I am running this live on very low risk with different settings to yours and am happy with whatever I get out of it. The recent losses incurred are part of any trading system's makeup and are a reflection of market conditions. I looked at it as the right time to start the EA as a loss always sharpens one's attention ;-) and it allows modifications / upgrades to be applied if necessary. Just make sure you don't overtake my trading results, only joking.

Thanks once again for your contribution,

Regards

Rob

V3 and v4 versions will run both 4 and 5 digit brokers. No adjustment needed.

I've been testing this on an FXDD account, the same that the s'posed results are posted against with the same version and provided .set file. So far not a single profit. All results have been in the loss column.

Well, indeed we got on the EA when it seems to be hitting two large swings. I think that the only longterm policy for it is to use pretty low risk setting -- but then you will not see so spectacular results as Wackena's (losses will also be easier to swallow though).

Hi Wackena. I need some clarifications on this EA. I am using the v4f version with FXDD malta demo. Just wonder, do we need to turn on our MT4 24x7 or just 24x5(trading days only)? Last week i had 5 open positions, during the weekend, i shut down my computer and surprisingly today when the market opens, all the open positions have been closed together at the same time with big loss. Shutting down the computer during weekend will affect the result? Or it is advisable to on the EA 24x7? Kindly advise, thanks.

Dannypro77:

I use FXDD malta/Tadawul FX demo. I always close MT4 for weekends, but I open it before trading starts on Monday, all the open positions are still open (I use v4f too). It's difficult to say what could have caused it in your case. Unless 1. you hit the stoploss, 2. you had not enough money to maintain the positions (I doubt it).

I re-check my loss history and i suspect you were right pipdetector. i put the amount of 1K in my demo account, all the open positions closed together at the same time when my total loss hit more than $300. I guess that was the reason when the loss hit 25% of the total balance, am i right about this? That means 1k really not enough to maintain the positions even with 0.01 lot

Yeah, I would agree that you seem under funded. My suggestion would be use much smaller risk setting if you have 1 K only or start with a larger balance...

What does the default risk=10 mean? With 1k start, what would be the better risk value?

Try risk of 2
