Best Broker for a Newbie

When it comes to choosing your broker there are a lot of aspects to consider. I only trade forex from the MT4 platform. I have heard good and bad things about Dukascopy. I am very happy where I am right now and do not plan to make any changes. Overall they offer the best all around package and keep adding to their services.

I agree with LK that you seem to use way too many indicators. I would recommend that you stay away from the 1M charts and don't look at anything less than 5M. True the 5/20 cross is not a bad one and I do not suggest to ignore MA's, but not to only rely on them as an indicator.

It will take time for you to get to that point, but keep working on it and take it one step at a time.Did you ever consider allowing a third party manage part of your funds?

You do know that MA's are lagging indicators, right?

It is a combination of moth. I trust my system 100% as I have booked several thousand trades with it and the results were always stable despite what is going on in the markets. This allows me not to worry after I place a trade, which you should not do anyways. Trading is emotionless and the sooner you master that the faster you will enjoy less stressful trading.

I try to stay away from the U.S. regulatory system and did move all my brokerage accounts out of there, but it comes down to preference.

Right, through a bank they will be insured but then again I use a bank to bank and a broker to trade :). Thanks for looking into it and sharing.

No, I don't really anymore. When I started out yes I would keep checking but now after I enter my trade and place the S/L and T/P I simply don't worry about it anymore.

Hey guys,I used to run a rather successful blog with over 10K followers and covered the start of the financial crisis in 2008. It was a bet and after I won my bet I deleted the blog. I decided to start blogging again, but this time with a twist.Instead of publishing a second book, I thought I 'release' it online through my blog. For now I only post twice a week, Tuesday's and Thursday's, and I take one breaking news story and wrap it in a fictional novel.Would be nice if you some of you guys have a minute and check out my first post and give me any feedback. I try to make this ...

No, my system is short term. I do check in during the day from my mobile device, but I ignore all the noise that is short-term. I enter the trade when I am sure of all the confirmation I need so after I decide on a trade there is no need to sit and wait. I hate long-term trades. I live today and not weeks from now so I want to enjoy the benefits of my work every day.

Yes I agree that at first they strive for perfection, but if they want to stay in the business they will maintain a high level of professionalism. As you said it takes time, but unless you try you will not find out. I will stick with PaxForex and hope they will maintain their current level. They are currently growing and adding new features such a Forex recommendations and a Forex blog which I appreciate. Since they are new and expanding it is nice to see an active broker and how they keep developing and improving. I have a good feeling about them and hope they will past the test of time.Who d...

Right, if they go bankrupt there is no way to know when. My bigger concern is that they don't simply shut down and run away, but then again if they decide to do so there is no way of knowing when. I think it takes time to develop trust in your broker. Even if they are insured, if they run it will be a lengthy process to recover your funds. Please tell me if you find a FX broker who actually insured accounts. I am not even sure that is possible as you are trading and this is not a bank account. I think if accounts are insured, traders who lose would file suits attempting to get their lost mo...

Alright, so you do trade bear market rallies as far as I understand from your statement and therefore do trade against a trend. I mean as far as I understand what you are saying is that you enter during pullbacks in a bear market. Trading with the trend would have you wait for a bear-market rally, then enter your shorts and profit as the downtrend resumes. Please do correct me if we are still not on the same page. Either way we have a discussion :)

Well, not really. You can analyze the pairs you like and then enter your trade, set-up S/L and T/P and then walk away. You determine how many trades you want at any give time so there is no reason to stare at your screen for that long. I take my two hours in the morning and then see what is going on. I check the market in the evening if necessary, but what good does it do if you don't have time to enjoy your trading profits?

Did you mean you re-enter on rallies? I may have misunderstood you, but you said you do not like to trade against the trend and since a bear market is a downtrend I thought you meant you enter on rallies and cash out once the downtrend resumes. I may be wrong...

That is a good question and I do not have a great answer. What I do is I deposit a small amount into an account and trade, make a few more minor deposits and withdrawals and see how they are being handled. This is far from perfect, but the best I can think of. Yes, there are a lot of bucket shops who lure newbies with great bonuses which is why I think it is important for traders to communicate and inform each other about those bucket shops and warn newbies. It is like a self policing environment.

Yes, I agree. Reputation is very important. Where do you check a brokers reputation. I am asking cause I know there are always negative reviews for any broker out there, but I have noticed they come from people who misread bonus conditions or newbies who lost money. I also come across negative reviews from a lot of 'scam countries'.Do you use multiple brokers?I made PaxForex my prime broker, they are newer in the business but their customer service made my decision easier. I did check for reviews over at forex peace academy. After calling their support department and talking to a real ...
