Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages is the most important category in the Timor-Leste CPI (64% of total weight), of which Rice (17%), Vegetables (15%), and Meat (8%). Other significant categories are Transportation (6%), Clothing and Footwear (6%), Housing (6%), Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (5%), and Furnishings, Household Equipment, and Routine Household Maintenance (4%). Recreation and culture (3%), Communication (2%), Education (2%), and health (1%) are also included in the index.

Consumer sentiment in the U.S. has unexpectedly deteriorated in the month of February, according to preliminary data released by the University of Michigan on Friday. The University of Michigan said its consumer sentiment index slumped to 67.8 in February after rising to 71.1 in January. Economists had expected the index to inch up by to 72.0.
