United States Redbook YoY
In the United States, the Johnson Redbook Index is a sales-weighted index that measures the growth in same-store sales from one year to the next in a sample of large general merchandise stores that represents around 9,000 businesses. Sales in stores that have been open for at least 12 months are referred to as same-store sales. According to the index's monetary worth, it outperforms the similar 'official retail sales statistic collected and reported by the United States Department of Commerce by more than 80%. Using retailer performance estimates collected and interpreted by Redbook, the Index is compiled and published. It is these estimations that are combined into the Index and its sub-groups, which are weighted according to sales. Weeks are retail weeks (from Sunday to Saturday), and they are evenly distributed throughout the month.

Consumer sentiment in the U.S. has unexpectedly deteriorated in the month of February, according to preliminary data released by the University of Michigan on Friday. The University of Michigan said its consumer sentiment index slumped to 67.8 in February after rising to 71.1 in January. Economists had expected the index to inch up by to 72.0.
