2011-03-11 'Black Swan' event, massive 8.9 Richter scale earthquake hits Japan about 3.5 hours back.(0630 GMT) JPY strengthened across the board insanely. Had it happened in trading window, v16 smart SL logic would not have caught it. Test to failure for this. Implement 3rd layer hard SL logic.

2011-03-12 Coming out of the trading week and programming mindset, it just hit me that the comment above comes off as rather mercenary in light of the tragedy and loss of life. One can sometimes get too entrenched in work.

Sentiments aside, look for infrastructure plays. Steel and sand probably. Going to hell one trade at a time. Sigh...

Another 'Black Swan' in a week, and this time smack in the middle of window plus after trades opened. Great data obtained. Velocity filters prevented recoveries and re-entries. System quite robust as is.
Add another current bar velocity filter to be safer.

I see you're still struggling with demo money. Why?
It's a waste of time to read the useless information you post here. Are you gonna sell or share something at all?

Wow, you're quite mean. Yes, I am a struggling coder.

I find it generally not a smart thing to test code on a live account. Case in point, the above-mentioned floating point issue caused an OrderModify Error#1 on every tick, this would have flooded the live server and likely make an account flagged. This would not be a good thing.

My comments are more for my own timestamped log, if they could be posted in a private account, I would make it so.

On a related note, the irony here is there is more real money being handled than the sum of the public demos posted. ;)
Consistency above all.

The account <i>v11f USD 400</i> looks good. No horrible DDs, nothing extreme, maybe real life spreads could affect adversely the avg. winner, but all in all looks good.

Don't worry about broker's servers. You'd get disconnected long before you could mess up anything. But the issue you mentioned could be a good occasion to add some error handling, think about the unthinkable, prepare for what's unlikely but still possible.

Do you have a specific goal before you'd go live?

What does this mean: <i>'On a related note, the irony here is there is more real money being handled than the sum of the public demos posted'</i>

That's exactly why I'm mean, you said it all. You're talking to yourself.
I'm just tired of useless(at least for the public) demo accounts and comments. If somebody wants to use myfxbook for his own analysis - there's nothing wrong but keep it private. That's why I made this suggestion: https://www.myfxbook.com/community/suggestion-box/how-about-clean-only-verified/81516,1

Maybe 90% of the information on forums in general is useless and therefore it's a waste of time, and time is money. We're here to get some kind of precious info and to learn something, not to read love stories or experimental diaries.

@speki
v11f is more risky than v15Jz. It looks quite good but it's better to minimise exposure to unpredictable events.
Yes, you're right, it would be a good thing to add a counter for attempts and limit it to X number. I'll work something in.
I've been live since 2008 and am currently trading not too small accounts.

@forexma
You can't be seriously bothered by me writing to myself? If you are, surely you could save yourself time by closing the window and not write back. You are actively seeking to antagonise yourself, which is bizarre.

Your sense of entitlement is overwhelming to write this. People post their accounts here not for your sole benefit.

Comments/logs can't be posted in private accounts. And for you to believe you are the authority on what people think is a waste of their time or not is shockingly arrogant and assuming.

Of course I'm arrogant and shocking cause I'm tired of facebook like behaviour. If you so much insist on having timestamped log you could really use your facebook wall(and annoy your friends) or use MS Word.
I come here to learn something and because I consider myfxbook a different and useful place. Saying different I mean different from facebook where 90% of the posts like:
I had my coffee;
The sun is shining;
Beatiful morning;
I brushed my cat's teeth;
I'm tired;
ARE ANNOYING AND USELESS.

Most of the myfxbook users come here either to:
1. Invest money.
2. Buy strategies/EAs.
3. Learn something.
4. Sell strategies/EAs.

Of course I'm not the one who can tell you what to do and what not to, I'm just sharing my opinion and disappointment that MFB is getting flooded by useless demo systems and comments. In order to find a grain of valuable information I have to open and read tens of threads and that's a waste of time. I pretty much ignore facebook as well cause the basic idea of social network has mutated to something like a wall of shame.

Just because the information is not valuable to you does not make it so. You surely must realise that this wonderful website is not here only for your own benefit?

Your opinion and disappointment is duly noted, I just don't think I'm the one to be addressing it. There is a 'Report' button the corner right of each post and if you feel strongly enough about it, you can click it.

However, for all the browsing I've done on this site, I see it is policed quite well and spam does not appear to be flood it. And when I do see a post that I do not feel compelled to read, I scroll past it or close the window. It is useful internet behaviour.

I have to support Solar in that there's no use in posting economic news or that your VPS was powered down - unless you tell us how your EA handled the situation, what improvements were made, whether you came to conclusions etc.

Indeed there could be better places for soliloquy ... a (private) blog also offers timestamped entries. You go public - you will get opinions. <i>'Opinions are like assholes. Everybody's got one and everyone thinks everyone else's stinks'</i>

If I saw <b>any kind of progress, any goals set, any steps forward</b>, I'd say why not keep us updated ... the EA is purring well, maybe you could put it on a real nano account... What broker to use ... There's a fella called Marcel here... he's experienced in real nano accounts, ask him 😁
