EURJPY is in a hardcore trend. watch the USDJPY closely. If the USDJPY holds steady, chances are the BOJ will not intervene. This means the EURJPY will continue to drop.

I recommend that you watch you margin level. If you get even remotely close to it, start removing other EAs/pairs form the account to free up margin if possible.
Make losses, but always come out a winner at the end.

Hi all ( Ivan, Dustin etc included if you can :-)

I am experiencing a problem since the beginning of the year.

I am running 3 MT4 instances on a VPS (Ultrahosting), 2 live accounts and a demo. The only thing all these accounts have in common is Tom's EA is running on them. Since the 2nd January, on a daily basis, all my MT4 turn off and stop running! You can imagine! I then have (when I notice) log in and restart the software.

My guess has so far been that my server had been restarted without telling me and I have emailed support on every instance. Ultrahosting support keeps telling me that it is not them and that the server has never stop running, therefore they place the blame on the software (The MT4 instances). As Tom's EA is the only EA running on all 3 accounts, I am wondering if it could be it shutting MT4 down.

Have you had a similar experience? Either with Tom's or with Ultrahosting? Or with anyone else for that matter.

Thanks for any hints

Hi Trading Shed

I'm with Ultra hosting and I had the same problem back in November and they said the same. Since then, I have found out that ultra hosting do some maintenence on the server at weekends. So on a Sunday night (i'm in UK) i log on and if need be restart toms ea. This as resolved my issue.
Hope this helps.

My live accounts were closed over the holiday but kept this running...any ideas?

My DD in EURJPY is negligible on all my accounts (2 live and 1 demo) I am still at the first stage (3 trades of 0.01) and have not yet reached the 0.03 position.

All my accounts were running regularly over the holidays with no interruptions.

Chrissav,

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of their week-end maintenance and I do the same as you. But all this happens during normal market hours. It has never happened before the holidays. I am somewhat inclined to think that it is a VPS issue.

How many MT4 are you running on your VPS?

Dustin,

Are we able to run the EA on our VPS MT4 platform as well as on our local MT4 platforms ?

Thanks

Looking at our accounts that have EURJPY I can see some drawdown but nothing like you are talking about. Is it possible that at some point your EA stopped running. That seems to be a common cause of inconsistencies.

Yes you can run it on both.

It definitely sounds like a hosting issue. I am not aware of the EA forcing any station to turn off. This is why we are really focusing more on the Tradency side. There are way less issues to deal with. We are of course still supporting the EA and adding new features but we just dont have any issues out of those using Tradency and that is why we suggest it.

Remember that their is a members forum now as well. By chance I have looked at this the last few days but remember that we have people monitoring the members forum daily and I do not always watch this forum. Just an FYI.

Dustin, I guess so too. However, no matter how many issues there are, I guess some of us will always prefer the EA to the tradency account for many reasons. I really hope you will continue to support the EA version.

I know, I use it but there does not seem to be much in a way of developer( you, Tom etc.) participation in there.

Thanks Trading Shed,

Bit confused as I thought I read that your MT4s were being shut off on your VPS so not sure about 'no interruptions'. Thanks anyway for the response.

fxnewswatch, with 'no interruptions' I meant that I did not switch the EA off, did not close any pairs and I did not reduce risk. I have in fact left all accounts running throughout the holidays as normal. I thought this may be helpful to people that are thinking 'what if'and to you if you wanted to compare EURJPY DD levels.

I did, however experienced some problems with my VPS in the last few days, although I do not think that fact has affected my EURJPY DD levels.

Thanks

Very interesting re different results re EURJPY. Perhaps it is a timing issue of when the various accounts were opened? My Tradency demo had multiple buys during the recent decline, without recovery, in the following sequence:

4
4
4
12
24
38
55

My 4-week demo expired, so I don't know if it has added another buy at this point. We are now around 100 pips below the most recent buy. Pullbacks had been insufficient to get out of this drawdown. It was the only pair, out of the six pairs I tested for two months, which had not (yet) recovered. I am VERY happy with the EA, but I will not be trading this pair.

Thanks Tom. My EURJPY is similar..no recovery at the moment. I am also going to ditch this pair on my live account. Good call.

Craneliu,
The problem I had was that when I logged on to check VPS status sometimes I would find that all three MT4 were not running! I could access the server ok, always could, but the MT4 platforms were just not running and I had to restart them myself.

I blamed it on Ultrahosting as it is highly unlikely that all three would fails at the same time but they insisted they did not have server restarts during the times of my issues. I also thought it copuld be Tom's EA as it is the only EA running on all three accounts. Unlikely though, as I find it odd to think that it would actually close the application down! At the most, I think, a malfunctioning EA might stop working.

I have decided to changeVPS provider (any good suggestions are welcome!) as my gut feeling tells me it was server restarts without a warning.

Red Paladin, Forex VPS, Black Box VPS, and CNS have all proven to be excellent VPS providers for me.

Hey Dustin and group,

Can you look at my demo account. I don't understand how the EURJPY is in massive DD and all the other pairs are fine. My EA has not stopped running, but if it had it would potentially have affected my other pairs I would assume. My first BUY on the EURJPY is on Dec 9th does anyone trading EURJPY still have a similarly dated order open?

I realise that there has been negligible retracement but am worried if Dustin says that none of their accounts have experienced radical DD on this pair. Any thoughts guys.

Going to start up the live accounts next week and after this will ditch the EURJPY. Any feedback is appreciated.

I have a theory that could account for you having a huge DD when no one else does. Mind you, this is only a theory.

IF.....TEA is similar to the kangaroo ea in that is bases some of it's information off of tick data, having a broker that smooths the data feed, or does not stream ticks consistently will adversely affect the performance of the EA.

On EURJPY....

After further examination, it seems I also have a recently developed problem with EURJPY DD on one of my accounts.

My Demo is indeed in huge DD. I attach a screenshot of the EURJPY open trades.

It would appear that it only opened 1 x 0.4 position (rather than the usual 3) before jumping into 1.3 and multipling up from that.

This behaviour did not occurr in my two live accounts.

The balance (not equity) of this demo is £ 17,600 (up 76%) with a current open trades DD of £6,470. As you can see in the screenshot, £5,152 of that comes from EURJPY alone!! That makes over 30% only from that pair.

Something definitely went wrong, I thing, as it seems to have missed out on two 0.4 trades and started multiplying too early.

Any opinions?

That definitely looks like an issue to me. It also double up on one of the larger lot sizes. Very odd.
