U.S. GDP Jumps More Than Previously Estimated In Q2
(RTTNews) - The Commerce Department released a report on Thursday showing the U.S. economy unexpectedly grew by more than previously estimated in the second quarter.
The report said the surge by gross domestic product in the second quarter was upwardly revised to 3.0 percent from the previously reported 2.8 percent. Economists had expected the pace of GDP growth to be unrevised.
With the upward revision, the pace of GDP growth in the second quarter showed an even faster acceleration compared to the 1.4 percent jump in the first quarter.

Leading U.S. economic indicators fell by much more than expected in the month of August, according to a report released by the Conference Board on Thursday. The Conference Board said its leading economic index slid by 0.5 percent in August after inching up by a revised 0.1 percent in July. Economists had expected the leading economic index to edge down by 0.1 percent.

The Philly Fed said its diffusion index for current general activity spiked to a positive 23.2 in September from a negative 0.3 in August, with a positive reading indicating growth. Economists had expected the index to rise to a positive 2.3.
