I think those who have done this are not poking around and yelling about their achievement to the general public - with a few exceptions - it has been done in online poker, Chris Ferguson $0 to $10´000 challenge 2006-2007. Yet, that era was a golden time in online poker. Those guys are professionals so with no experience, I assume, such an endeavor is very likely to fail. And, if one has already money in trading there is no need to do such challenges..Info about good practices in trading are hidden here and there, in bits and pieces. Direction from the upper (4h or 1D) time frame, timing from the lower (entry & exit). I've tried this and that, now it seems to be working. :)

This has been in my TO-DO list for awhile.I've been programming with C during my studies. C is a procedural language like MQL4 is, mostly. Since MQL4 has also OOP characteristics, I'd like to program EA's in object oriented style. However, most of the examples and code have been done in old-school fashion. So not much help from there.So my plan is:1) Gain capital2) Move to longer time frames3) Have time for learning OOP programming language like Java (and learn OOP fashion)4) Start programming EAsI appreciate your suggestion. Any ways of making this quicker? I am a hands-on learner...

Prolly it would be better to program in an EA a dead man switch supposedly something like 20-50 pips out of the open price? In order to prevent a catastrophic failure and a shutdown of EA just after that?

Who is waiting for trend reversal in EURUSD? I expect this would happen after NFP, since the currency pair has been trading on a range in 1D time frame. On the other hand, EURUSD could break out from the range, but why it would do that? Yesterday evening there was the FED interest rate decision and there was a nice move up. EURUSD appears to be currently overbought. Any thoughts?

Yes, I am using a very small micro account. I exceeded already my profit target for January. I know one can make huge gains during news releases, but it is also very risky. My current broker has made it too expensive to trade in very short time frames (~1 pips) so I am leaving those high volatility occasions unless I have a position already open and the situation favors me. Besides it seems that EURUSD and AUDUSD are ranging, in any case.I think I am getting into trading, little by little. It took 4 long years, and it is actually easier and more boring than I thought in the beginning. Waiting...

In coming friday, the 1st of February is the NFP release day. I've decided to stay on sidelines until next week. That is emotionally difficult not to take any action. Almost depressing.I didn't trade so much on demo. Instead, I tried to limit my losses until I get the grip from trading.

I vote for 1H, and I try to make my decisions based on that. I also use shorter time frames for estimating entries and exits, longer for support & resistance level analysis. I never have been using 1M and hardly ever 5M profitably. I think the shortest time frames are too expensive for a retail trader who is using a market making broker.I think 1H is just ok. One can trade both long term and short term with it.

How can you spot a martingale system without seeing the exact log of trades? Is the green profit line and pips in red a proof of it?One can get a nice smooth profit curve, too, by day trading or positional trading (the latter by cost averaging)..

Yeah. Yours is good. I think the goodness of the system should be judged by visual observation, where the better system has an upwards trending smooth curve in profits. I think probably the metrics of the curve should be standard deviation, which is calculated from profits. My DD is getting lower little by little as my trading is improving. TBH, I don't know how it is calculated and how it behaves. Seems that some systems have highly discontinuous DD numbers, mine is somehow converging to a smaller percentage.

Regarding to the drawdown: The profit and balance curve has nice smooth upwarding trend. Could it be that drawdown is calculated from the pips earned and not from the money earned or compound gain? I mean, pipswise the profits are in read - weekly, monthly and this year. This could be a result of trading style where more likely positive outcome (position) gets a bigger bet (or will be added to later) , and initially the trade is opened with a small lot size. Thus with a small initial investment the trade can be kept longer open in hopes that it will reverse, and end up being profitable trade...

There is at least one broker, which allows trading even with a smaller lot size than 0.01 lots (1 microlot). Maybe that could be a solution? If you can keep trade sizes very small you can regard it as a hobby until you become profitable. Be resilient and limit your losses. If you can't keep yourself in check probably then it is better to stay in demo. Or not trade at all.

Moving averages work only in trending market condition. Mostly, the market is not trending :)

By looking at your chart statistics I think that you have been trading with exotics or alike, like BTCUSD or XAUUSD. That position may have been closed with a loss resulting in a huge pile of negative pips. The other option is that you have done like I've done several times: Opening a smallish trade and closing it with big loss in pips but not in $. After that you might have opened a sizable trade, gained a few pips, and closed in profit and recovering from losses.
