Of course, my intention was to say that 30 pips stop loss is good for day trading in H1 time frame.

I agree with this. Some sources recommend for scalping 7-8 pips stop loss, but I think stop loss should be more than 10. I agree with 20-30, while 30 is a bit excessive. But in order to prevent a catastrophic flash crash 30 pips is more than Ok in daily trading.

I don't know about martingale, but I would increase betting while winning and scale down when losing :) Isn't it a bit contrary to martingale?

I'm not mathematician, but somehow I believe that win rate and the ability to risk more than 2% successfully is somehow interrelated. Nowadays I rarely have a losing streak, I'n my opinion, I should be able to risk more than 2%, perhaps 5% or even more. Any opinions on this? Intuitively, if a trading style has a string of losses, then one single trade should have a tighter limit for loss %.Risk profile and money management should be implemented according to the trading strategy. If strategy changes, then money & risk management should be modified, too.
scalping is risky ?

In addition to cutting losses early it is important to recognize when to trade and when not. Generally, one is not making any profits if the prices are not moving. The higher the spread is the larger the move should be. Scalping is not about cutting profits. It is about short term trading and closing the trade immediately at the moment the momentum reverses. Spread should be as low as possible, so a retail trader really does not have an opportunity to scalp trade. I think scalper is working in lesser time frame than 5 min. Personally, I cannot afford trading what I regard as scalping. I can on...

Even a spread of 1 pip denies scalping regarded as a short term trading with a duration less than an hour. It is risky without proper knowledge.

Sure, that is a huge difference, I can imagine. Then the thing is to someday gain a pro status and have 1:2000 leverage, 1:30 is not going to destroy the business, however. BTW, I already checked your acc.

How many lots per $100'000, or how many 0.01 lots per $100? When overleveraging, do you vary your position size according to the market situation?

I am convinced that with a leverage of 1:30 one can gain profits of 1% to 2% daily by day trading strategies. I think it should be enough. Besides, it is possible to limit the risk to 2% or less than 20 pips per trade.Even if one is working 8 hours a day there is still market open somewhere around the clock for 16 hours. If one is trading long term even 30 (leverage) is too much.

I think probably you both are on a different scale talking about the same thing: trading. If one is trading in 15M time frame that trader can use a bigger lot size than the guy trading 1D. Stop loss can be smaller than the 1D guy uses. Similar set up on both ends can have a devastating effect to the other. If one starts small then he either ´dies´ or succeeds and then he is a pro and no longer has less than 10k in his account.

Yes, I second this. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm not going to change my strategy. Impulsiveness is an enemy. I would describe trading as a skill like reading and writing. It takes time to learn how to read, and even more so how to write neatly, or if one is a skilled calligraphist there is a lot of work involved. It is a step-wise process..And then, a professional has gone through a lot of BS and mumbo-jambo filtering out all that unnecessary and even false knowledge.I'm not a pro.
Emotion in Forex trading

I would add on this that proven track record creates confidence and helps with uneasiness and anxiety. It is a lot easier to deal with emotions if one already knows that this is working. One can form a trading system by demo trading. Somebody said that it is possible to test a system manually in MT4, right? One needs to be also a little bit of a gambler, and an addict, but not too much ;)
Customer funds in a segregated accout

My broker says this:"xxxxxx maintains client funds in segregated client accounts completely separated from xxxxxx' own funds. All client funds deposited at xxxxxx are fully segregated in accordance with strict policies and procedures."What do you understand with this? Are all of the customer's money on a different account than the broker's or just the initial deposit? What happens to the capital gains (~profit) in case of bankruptcy? No doubt that each individual customer's money are pooled together. If the company fails, whom am I going to file my claim of refunds?

Now, there is a little bit of flesh on the bones, for everybody:https://www.purplemath.com/modules/expofcns4.htmI'm too dull to employ this kind of sh**, but trial and err works too ;)The reason for the latest big loss seems to be an overnight position, which has been left open. That's a quick conclusion I made.

Do you mean that you are scaling back your risk intermittently? I want to ask if you act according to the market situation, risking more in a favorable position, and then cooling down, if necessary?
