Many traders consider several aspects when developing a trading strategy.
I have been around for quite a long time, and I changed my approach with time.
When I started developing EAs, my idea was to have as many trades as possible since more trading equals more profit.
Today, I prefer fewer trades, less risk, less profit, and staying out of trouble when the market is wild.
To me, this means trying to lower the potential risks as much as possible since, like in football, if my team does not suffer any goals, we are closer to winning. If my account is not lost, I am closer to having a long-term profit, even if the monthly profit is lower.
So, to me, the most important is to protect your balance, and all the tools and EAs I have developed recently (they are all free on my site) are based on that idea.
What is your opinion?

Interesting approach, Gabriel. I agree that balance protection is crucial for long-term success. Curious though, why is your signal account a demo rather than a live account?
Running a signal on a demo account has drawbacks because demo trading can differ significantly from live conditions. In a demo, executions may be faster, slippage is often absent - factors that all affect real-world trading outcomes. Without real capital at stake, it’s hard to gauge the true effectiveness and resilience of your strategy.

Oh I think I found out. In another thread, you replied to my post and said:
'One thing is to have the EA still in testing mode (like I have my newbot); another thing is to have something ready to be used in real accounts and to show a demo. '
Hopefully, the EA keeps up this good performance when it eventually moves to a live account.

I have proven signal which is running on real capital. Approaching 100k USD on SignalStart (I can't provide a link, moderator is not letting outside links, I think). My second account on ICM, real capital of 5000 USD, is in my profile.

Hi, I am using demo accounts because all those tools and EAs I (and a couple of other guys) are developing are still being tested. And to be honest, until we find all the bugs we may find and the best assets and setups (if we manage to), I don't even advise using them in real accounts. I know some users use them, but it is their own risk.
So, for that reason (and all those tools are free to download on my website), I only advise using a demo account and, if possible, giving some insights and suggestions to improve and fix the bugs, if there are any.

When you think about it, the core of any trading strategy should be balance and longevity. A lot of traders dive in aiming for high profits and tons of trades, but the truth is that consistency and managing risk are what keep you in the game for the long haul. It’s not just about making money; it’s about not losing it. Staying cautious, especially when the market’s unpredictable, can often be smarter than chasing every opportunity.

At the end of the day, a strategy that prioritizes protecting your capital over quick gains is like setting a strong foundation. With that, you can handle the ups and downs and keep growing without risking it all.

Maintaining the balance is absolutely important. It is also essential to stay in control of your emotions whether the trade is in favorable or not. You do not need to get overconfidence to prove your point. Stay ahead.

As a trader, I think the most important thing in a trading strategy is learning to manage your risk, so you don’t lose more than you’re comfortable with.
All in for Success
