Advance Block Pattern Definition
The Advance Block candlestick is a bearish reversal pattern that appears during an uptrend. It consists of three bullish candlesticks with shorter bodies and long upper shadows, which will reverse the price trend from bullish to bearish.
The Advance Block is commonly confused with the bullish Three-White Soldiers pattern, as it also consists of three long candles with successively higher closes than the prior candles. Nevertheless, each subsequent candlestick in the Advance Block pattern has a shorter true body and maybe longer shadows, and the candles weaken daily.
Another pattern that can be confused with the Advance Block pattern is the Bearish Harami pattern which is a bearish reversal pattern that is formed by a large candle that is followed by a small candle. In this pattern, the second candle is entirely engulfed by the previous candle, whereas in the Advance Block pattern, the second candle opens above the previous day's close.
Is Advance Block Candlestick Bullish or Bearish?
The Advance Block Candlestick pattern is a bearish pattern, which indicates that the bears (sellers) have taken control of the market and prices are likely to continue to fall. The pattern typically appears at the end of an uptrend, signaling a potential reversal in the market trend.
Advance Block Pattern in Up and Down Trends
The Advance Block pattern is better at predicting reversal patterns during small upward movements and pullbacks during larger-scale negative trends.
Claiming to anticipate a price reversal in the period following the pattern. It best predicts reversals during temporary uptrends and pullbacks within larger-scale downtrends, as well as when candles have long bodies. When the first consecutive price bar trades through the midpoint of the first candle's body, the bearish reversal is verified.
