Does anyone know if a US citizen wins, if the prize will be forfeited?

I'm interested to know this too, except I'm from Australia..what we're essentially asking is do you have to be a UK resident to be able to get this money? I'm leaning towards no since they're quoting the prize in dollar terms?

Hi Salamafx,

There are no restrictions on volume or trading style, but everyone starts with a $50,000 virtual balance in their demo.

Hi Jambol,

Since we are not registered in Singapore, the regulators in Singapore do not allow us to open accounts for Singapore residents. Unfortunately, that's means you would not be eligible for the live account prizes from the contest.

Hi Geereg,

US citizens are eligible for the prizes. Note that while US residents are able to trade a demo with up to 200:1 leverage for the purposes of the contest, should a US resident win one of the prizes, the live account prize would have a maximum of 50:1 leverage to comply with US regulations.

Hi StinsfireFX,

Australians are also eligible for the prizes, but should you win, your live account would be set up with FXCM AU instead of FXCM UK.

Hi James,

You can use up to 200:1 leverage on your contest demo account, as you can see from the people who have already registered: https://www.myfxbook.com/contests/trading-championship-november-2012-fxcm/12/competitors

That's right, James. The contest demos are FX trading only.

Regular demos from our FXCM UK website have the ability to trade gold, as will the live account contest prizes for any non-US residents.

Wow, over 3,000 traders in the demo contest so far! Good luck to everyone.

The contest is using FXCM's new lower spread option, so let us know any feedback.
