A streak of 5 consecutive losing months in a row and a rather staggering -57.85% drawdown figure.
Game over?

Hi,
Custom analysis shows that even with GBPUSD it was negative in April, June, July and August 2015. EURGBP was good except one trade.

Sure but from january 2015 until now 94% / 20% dd with gbpusd only. hard to beat. And more important is the curve you see if you analyze gbpusd only. Much more stable than any other pair. i never understood why people putting this ea on eurusd watching the numbers and the curve you see analyzing this ea. Also it seems to be important that the time frame is m5 on gbpusd instead of eurusd m15.
Many eas struggle on eurusd the last months. Look at trenddetector or other breakout systems like monetizer. eurusd had many false breakouts recently.
Right now the performance on gbpusd is realy good. low dd and nice gains the whole year. Will this continue?
Nobody knows. Interesting to see where we will stand in december.

SNB has caused global bankrupt. Black swan events are not specific problems of any eas.
If GBPUSD for example will have a black swan event in the future will you blame your eas?

If you at the backtest for 5+ years you will see EURUSD is the top performer... All im saying. Check it out, TBH I don't even think the other pairs make money. BUT that is just backtest, real results will be vastly different as this EA works off volatility, and we all know the fill can be Vastly different in volatile situations.

that is really not correct! This EA open trades on a bar open, 5 or 15min after the news event which is 99% of the time what triggers the volatility. Which means any spread increase is gone by that time!

Check for yourself and if you can prove me wrong, let me know!

!!???!!! What I said is that on Jan this EA benefited from the Black Swan event and if you are going to use that to measure the performance of this EA... I have nothing else to say.

Please re-read what I said with that in mind!!!

If you ignore the HUGE profit he made that day...tell me what was the profit this year so far!

IM NOT referring to spread increase AT ALL. The spread can be normal, but what Im talking about is the reason why some EAs only work on demo or show profitable results in tester but then when you take it to live account, it only loss. The only way to justify the EA is to test it live on real account which is what I have been doing and found EURUSD to be the best for me 1+ live account now. So you can go with whatever you like but Im just practicing my own theories. Its a good EA don't get me wrong.

My post had nothing to do with the performance of this EA... which had its time and can no longer live in this market conditions. in my view.

Anyway...I still dont see how in this particular EA, demo vs real will play much of a difference....

Ive seen EAs that are indeed impacted by demo versus live...and for sure it can be huge - see the famous million dollar pip...

But this one...dont see it...as I said the trades are taken during 'normal' condtions of spread and fills...price usually is not jumping up and down like a crazy bull by the time this EA enters the market.

Do you know if someone is running this on a DEMO these days? If yes we could just look...

maybe Ricky is still reading these and can turn his EA into a demo account so we can compare...

Cheers,
Vlad

What is your intention here? Its a bad ea or a good one? One account with keltner was removed because of a huge loss in snb event if i remember correctly. So its irrelevant. Under normal real live conditions this ea here made nice gains on gbpusd. Not more.
And i wouldnt run any other pair with it right now.

Again , I have no intention here, just to make sure we highlight this fact

The SNB event help trades blow their account and for some double their account. We should ignore this event when making any decision about performance of anyone, or any EA...thats my point.

if I look at the perfomance on this particular account from the actual creator of the EA..and I discount that day...it is a bit in the negative for the whole year.

But... indeed your post only mentioned the GU performance... and if you took all trades into consideration...well...thats fact that we cannot deny!

IIRC, the EA has horrible performance in BT prior (I believe) to 2012 or so on the cable. And by horrible I mean steady 45° declining.
I can double check later if needed, but GBPUSD has been the worst performer on BT for a long time.

As a bt multi millionaire i didnt rely on any bts anymore. Only use them to get a feeling of how the ea trade. bts are worthless.
why do you need a bt if a system is making money NOW? Only real forward test is what counts and any system will faill sooner or later without adapting to changing market conditions.

And no i wouldnt trade keltner relating on that bt but i bought it months ago and so i trade it on the only pair which is profitable now.

Also i wouldnt buy keltner again. for sure.
