Get some professional training if you can afford it.

I would say you never really stop 'practicing'. If your demo account balance is $100 000, you won't learn anything, that's where a small, micro, live account will do you a world of good.
For every loss there should be at least an equal and opposite profit.

There is much debate as to whether Demo accounts are useful or not and whether a trader should start directly on a live account. The truth is that the demo account can be very useful in the following cases:

Know the trading platform: The most used trading platform is the MT4. If you are new to trading, chances are you have never heard of MT4 or any other trading platform. The truth is that each one of them has several functionalities that are important that you know before starting to operate in a real one.

Familiarize yourself with the tools of trading: When you start to find out about the different tools that exist to make an analysis of some value you will realize that the variety is wide. Chartist patterns, Japanese candle patterns, elliott waves, heiken ashi candles and so many more.

I started with real account right away and now I regret that. Demo trading used to be useless to me 7 months ago - it was just postponing my wealth. Guess you all now know the result. Now I am proud demo trader. I undestand that there is no need to rush, that I won't quit job next month, that forex is always going to be there for me. When I develop strategy that works and suits my style - I mean what signals to look for and how to gauge them I am moving to real trading. The key here is to trade on live account exactly the same way like demo - tough it is still going to be super hard with real money involved, however, without getting at least little confidence and experience on demo, it would be super mega ultra hard to deal with emotions. I was trying to run before I even learnt how to walk. Perhaps when I experience some serious real trading I will change my mind. I am still a begginer.

I agree. There's no use to a demo account if you won't trade on it exactly like you'll trade on a live one. Having a $100,000 deposit in the demo account just creates false expectations.

You could try trading longer time frames on stocks its much easier than FX.

What's the difference? Charts read the same - no matter the market. If I see in the charts a range and it's near the top - doji forming signalling reversal on the monthly - wait for verification/close, new month starts the downtrend, sell short at a pre-determined point determined by risk/reward analysis. Ride until trailing stop gets taken out. Same methods apply across the financial multi-verse. Fundamental analysis - Currency/Macro-economics tie-in to individual stock returns/growth/health as well. I will agree that leverage typically scares off the newbs and rooks. I know guys that have been actively trading stocks for years - and won't even consider playing in the fx world because... leverage.

Juvenile response - deflection? As I stated - I know plenty of guys that trade stocks on just technicals alone and make good money doing it.

For EA there is no big difference trading demo vs. real. On good broker there are very similar conditions.
For manual trading there is a psychological aspect as you cant accept loose of 10000 real dollars compared to demo:)

Guys, today i´m used this strategy, 3 pairs on correlation 1 positve 2 negative - (1buy 2Sell) - on demo account with expert advisor, with high spread broker demo account ( for example 10.000,00 demo), i put on copy account on my real - the slave real - will copy the master demo. ( the brooker not slipage my orders cause not copy sl and tp - on real account)

Very well : hahahaha.

:).

Ps. of course after 2 months of test on demo account.. :)

Agree there is no big difference with EA short term, but there is a difference. For example, on a demo comparison I tried, demo gave me no gaps or slippage and the swap rates lagged behind the real account. I also had no-fills on real (out of price errors) while demo filled orders regardless (causing the most impact). These add up quickly to a huge difference in outcome (note I say outcome not strategy or method). It really comes down to how the broker sets up the demo vs real servers, some will follow real principles, others set them up to just run as efficiently as possible for trading practice (not meant to represent real trading environments). On manual trading the variables become even greater as you are more likely to trade at higher risk, less emotion (in the beginning) and with a 'try and test' attitude on demo than with real.
For every loss there should be at least an equal and opposite profit.

Does it really matter when somebody trades manually on daily and higher timeframes?
