Thanks PRandell, you explained well.

I was asking that question, because on other managed account I am having proportional %. For example, standard initial capital is $10,000 and makes $100 today, if I only invest $2000, i.e 1/5 of $10,000, then I win $20 for today. When my balance reach $3000, I can top up to $3000 then it will be 3/10 x profit.

regards,

Hello
I'm a new member just registered. I just wondered whether AlonFX allows compounding? I just looked at the live account and saw that the profit for November was around 33%. If that was added to the initial deposit of $1000, then the balance at the start of December should have been around $1330. So the December profit should have been calculated on this NEW balance of $1330 and NOT the initial investment of $1000. Instead the December profit seemed to have been calculated on the initial deposit of $1000 and not the new balance of $1330. That means that compounding has NOT taken place when going from November to December.
Can somebody clarify this position for me? Also if AlonFX is executing only a fixed number of trades, how will this affect the compounding, if compounding is indeed allowed?

Hi Cinlung,

You said in another managed account you are seeing proportional %. Are you saying you currently have a managed account with AlonFx or with someone else? And please let us know if it's a demo account or you're using real funds.

Agnilak,

Compounding features are rather easy to write, so I'm sure Alonfx could manage it, but I'm not sure if that's part of their strategy. Peter would be better suited to answer that. I too would like some sort of money-management baked in. But as the take profits are set to 10 pips and stop loss is set at 30 pips, I'm not sure what setting would be beneficial to this strategy.

Hi PRandell,
Thank you for providing some explanation of the compounding issue. I wish Peter would give us all a full explanation of their strategy as no doubt many would like answers to this compounding issue. It would help us to plan our investments. So over to you Peter...

Hi,
In case of money management you will not be working with fixed lot like the demo and live account.
It works like this, 10/30 is always working in leverage of 10:1, so a 10pip gain is 1% and loss is 3% of your account.

We use a MAM (multi account management) system that aggregates all the accounts and rolls the balance into one large account.
So if our MAM, for talk sake is $100,000, so we are executing $1M tickets (X10 leverage), if you have account balance of $2750 of the total $100,000 pot, then your account will be alloctaed 2.75% of the total gain when trade is closed. We are using account balance proportional allocation of p+L. So when winner is closed at 10pips on $1M ticket it is $1000 ($100 a pip). You are credited with 2.75% or $27.5.

In summary, your gains will always be 1% and loss 3%, no matter the balance. So, yes compounding is in effect and so is scaling down when your account reduces.
Hope this is clear.

hi,
We only kept the demo on 0.1 lot because trade copier people need to know the outgoing lot size.
Once we get to $2000, we will step up the account to 0.2 lot and then % gains are more realistic again. Actually at the moment, with $1950 balance, the account is 'underselling' itself using only 0.1 lot.

Hi PRandell,

With someone else, live account. I was not given investor account or any, but they send me report everyday via email. If they make $200, and if I only invest 25% then I get $50. Now my balance is 35% of their initial suggested capital, so I did top it up, so every winning day I get 35% of what they make.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your explanation.

Hello Peter,
Does the compounding take place daily, weekly or monthly? Also are there any limits to compounding? If so, what is the limit?

Peter,

there is any stop limit from equity which if you achieved you will stop trading? by example if you reach 25% from my equity in losses to stop trading my account and to be asked if I want to continue.

thanks

hi,
compounding is continuous on a trade close basis.
I.e after trade is closed in profit, next trade get slightly bigger and so on.
No, we dont have emergency stop.
In simulation we have seen cases whereby it is possible to have 6 losers in a row in extreme cases. (18% DD)

We have pitched it as $1500 product, so 18% Drawdown is not a life changing event to 95% of people.
You can revoke LPOA anytime,

So, the min amount is still 1500 $ for 10/30? Aren't you gonna increase it? And what about 5 minute EURUSD? I am too anxious, I guess, but I would like to see results on that system as well.. BTW 10/30 seems very promising so far!!!

Hi,
Simulation is computer driven modelling on past data.
$1500 will remain min. balance in new broker and FXCBS.
Regarding emergency stop, if you feel nervous about a balance decrease then you can stop us trading at your discretion by revoking LPOA.
With a system like 10/30 odds of a continual drawdown is very high.
10/30 is a trend follower on 1-hour so you are always trading with the short term trend.

Hi all,
We have released new website today and new broker for 10/30 Smartradefx.com. It will commence in January,
Unikbit, no we dont use emergency stop as we take positions already with risk built in, we are not running without risk meaures in place.

E.g in Frequency no more than 200pips stop is used.

We have assessed each system we run and use leverage appropriately. Remember we are performance based manager. Your gain is our gain.

Computer driven modelling on past data? LOL we call it backtest..
Since multi-pair EAs can't be back tested together on mt4, your answer isn't very satisfactory. Plz be more precise. Thx.

1. Backtest is not a generic name for historical data modelling, more related to Metatrader and Tradestation. In Institutional modelling other applications are used for analysis. Actually, metatrader backtesting is quite weak and hugely inconsistent from broker to broker. (because most broker make up prices as they go long to help profit the desk)
2. Multi-pair EA can be backtested on MT4 using currency pair combining application.

Yes chaps, I asked a very good programmer who is also familiar with MQL and he said, it's bollocks that you can't backtest multi pair EAs. (If multi pair EA means, one EA that looks at prices of multiple pairs)

EA can call DLL even when in tester.
You can prepare price data to file, database, whatever.
EA can call DLL to get ANY price or any data while running from external source.

Yeah, a lot of work ... but inability and impossibility are not the same.
