So...my original question was about the EA providing conventional hedging, using matched or increasing longs for short positions, and vice-versa, then closing all trades for a profit or small loss. Dustin talks about the EA working well within its design parameters, if the DD function is invoked, and I wouldn't argue, but that's not the same thing. So, why not extend the design function to cover this? With strong downtrends, such as the EUR, AUS, or NZD, why can't the EA cover this?Anyone care to chip in on this point? 😄

Hi AllI've been going over my TEA history, and notice that at no point does the EA hedge in the opposite direction to balance a basket of trades, particularly when the EA is turned of for a given pair to manage down the basket. Given the recent events (take Cables' recent run for example), I'm struggling to see why this doesn't happen. Appreciate TEA is primarily a range trading system, but couldn't this be built into the logic, or am I missing something (or perhaps too inexperienced to appreciate the difficulties involved)?Manually hedging in the hope that the trades pul...

Yep. Delivered verbatim from Ivan. He did say they were reviewing it for the next release. Can't believe I didn't spot it sooner. Am rolling back this weekend.

OK guys - you ready for this...?Just got off Live Support with Ivan G, as I noticed no trades from TEA today. Apparently, it's an "undocumented feature", as Tom's decided to try avoiding open weekend trades (presumably just from a Friday, as there's usually plenty on my account from earlier...!). Rolling back to v1.89 sorts this out. Pleased I caught this (and got Ivan in tech support). It's not that it's happened, but would've been nice to know (or did I miss this somewhere...?)!

Not seeing any issues with my setup. Although I'd like to follow Ivan's recommendation, I hold to the "if it does the job, and it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of thought. So: GKFX broker; MT4 build 4.16; TEA v1.91 all working together nicely (so far...)When someone reliable tells me that MT4 build 4.19 is stable and trouble-free with 1.91 (and there's plenty of evidence to support this), I'll upgrade, but not before ;) Hope this is of some use.

I upgraded to v1.91, but left MT4 at Build 416 until I knew 419 was stable (didn't update to 418). Everything seems fine... Ivan, is this OK, or do you recommend updating to Build 419?

Happy to oblige :)I set the EA to 'true', taking the £1/$1=1 lot literally, as a lot of 1.00 on the SB account is £1. All trades are coming in at 30 - 40 pips... Martingale spiralled up on a couple of pairs, but don't think the lot size setting is related. Happily one has now closed for profit and the other is nearly in :) Everything else (other than the market!) behaving nicely...Hope this helps

Got the same question as tradingshed on a UK SB account. I've set all instances of the EA to the 'true' setting on the basis that 1 lot = 1USD (or £1GBP, in our case) but could do with a steer on this. Also, deactivated a couple of pairs as martingale fury was imminent, and I found EURJPY in particular starting to hit larger lot sizes on exclusively buy trades (now at 2.10). I thought the deactivated EA instance would manage the trades in each case and hedge accordingly, balancing the basket out for all trades (long and short) and closing at the appropriate point. What'...

Appreciate the focus will always be on handling the crisis, Dustin, but a simple, reactive system to inform everyone of the issues would deal with this (and help us to manage our resultant risk in the process). Leaving Support to indicate directly or via third parties that the 'server is down' (again!) will inevitably lead to these things being bandied about, especially when we're working with live, at-risk funds. I'd respectfully suggest that the way to handle false assumptions is to minimise the probability of them occuring :) As to 'outgrowing' Infusionsoft... If...

One other thing...As (I suspect) a great number of us will be running this on a VPS and probably not monitoring it hourly (after all, that was the key selling point!), an early warning system from the TEA mob (e-mail/SMS) to let us know there's an issue wouldn't hurt. Like flopps said, "$1997... I expect better!"

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, "To lose the service once may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose it twice looks like carelessness..." You have to ask what's going on over there?! Business-critical systems in mainstream operations are rarely down like this in-flight. Has Dustin et al really invested enough? With the right people/company? Why is there no working failover system (one that's been tested without using us as guinea pigs)?Over £3k tied up in trades. Pleased I'm not at work today :)Let's hope they fix this issue properly this time.

Echo what Ivan said. Unusually for me, I decided to break normal practice and updated last night on VPS and all machines. Rebooted and have observed no obvious issues. All trades running as one would expect.Still, sound advice to stay clear until the v416 update all-clear's received.

Hey guysAre you all still here?? Been remarkably quiet for a while :)I held on to GBP/USD and have managed to extricate myself from the pair just off today's low. The EA has worked well, to be fair, but I just wasn't comfortable after the palpitations of EUR/USD and a 55% DD lasting several days. So, took early profits from the EA's trades and replaced with some timely manual ones, added couple of hedges, switched off TEA on the pair and waited for the drop, which obligingly came after the BoE announcement today. Had I not intervened, both the EUR/USD and GBP/USD pairs would s...

On the matter of account survival vs 'tinkering' rather than letting the EA get on with its job, I thoroughly agree. However, there are times when a 'good' trader can intervene simply and quickly and provide a better outcome. Indeed, one doesn't have to be that good. I'm currently locked into EUR/USD with large DD as my own instance of TEA on this pair fell 5 pips short on the collective basket Profit Take last week when the market reversed. All it did was bounce off support, which was something I'd already spotted as a possible, but I was on a 'plane when t...

Hi chrissavI'm trading with GKFX on a SB account, so divide my 'lots' by 10, eg 2.10 equiv to 0.21.I've had a 1.50 short opened on Cable at 1.58754 and the same on EUR/USD at 1.32551 today. I took profit on all the open 2.10 trades when the market RTd as I felt pretty exposed and wanted to bank the £300 or so that was on the table. All RLs had been reduced to 1, but these trades were opened at RL2, so I felt much better when they'd gone and I'd pocketed something for the risk.By leaving the EA active, I figured that it would recalculate what it needed to do with...

I echo tradingshed's question. Currently, Support seems a little 'pre-occupied' with the issues they have addressing how the EA is handling the current situation (clearly there's some further development in the pipeline), but I'm getting a 36/48-hour response turnaround from e-mails. That said, given the absence of the Forum, Live Chat, etc., that Dustin said in a prior e-mail would be up-and-running "soon", perhaps the Team should simply switch its focus and feedback to here until everything's back to normal. Over to you, Dustin...

Yep, me too - everything's at RL1 - but unfortunately I'm still locked into EUR/USD, having missed the 3033 exit. Another fine piece of timing from Bernanke and my second stop since entering the market with TEA got taken out in the space of an hour as the EUR/USD went vertical... And if Cable hits 1.6000 I'm looking at some increasing hits as another 3 stops get hit on the way there - bet it's no fun for you guys either.EUR/USD just hit the 1.3260 resistance and it looks like there might be a fight going on at that level, but who knows? The pundits can talk about the market ...

tradingshed & danielsfx1979 - thanks for the advice. Helpful, as always 😄As an aside, I got a response from Ivan in TEA support in the wee small hours regarding the auto-login element of the EA. He says they have this done, but are postponing a general release as they're working on adjustments to "the mechanics of the EA" given the current level of DD being experienced. Sounds like some good news may be on the way... This also, incidentally, coincides with the option to throw in the initial 3 month payment against a lifetime purchase. Personally, I'd rather p...

flopps, same for me, except I'd logged into the VPS as /admin as well as a straight login and had two instances of User: Administrator running. Closed the other session - let's hope that solves it, and thanks again for the steer.tradingshed - welcome back to the conversation! Thanks also for the info. As with a couple of the other guys who've mentioned this, I'm adding equity and looking to ride this out, but have some v. large positions, esp. on Cable, so the concern was how GKFX treats the available margin. I'm currently sitting at a margin level just under 160%...As ...

I mentioned earlier that the EA was producing double trades and that I'm awaiting Support to respond on this. In the interim, have checked my account history and spotted these in the closed trades. Same trades doubled up, but different close times, even 'though the TP appears to have been set at the same level.
