The events of the previous week have caused me to think about adopting a new rule relative to intervening with my automated system trades. If I am up 5% on a single trade I should take profit is there is high impact news pending.Market reversals have been the norm in the last mouth and arguably for the last 3 months. Whether to trade or not to trade NFP with my system has always been one of the most difficult decisions. Nearly every time I have turned the system off I see I would of had a minimal loser or a big winner, but today i lost 3%. I'm pissed.I picked the worst time of the year to start a new tracked system. I would not say FGB is a trend trading EA, but rather a breakout EA. It seems to look for low volatility with a strong move (if you want to call this a breakout) that is in agreement with the short term momentum. This is just how I would observe it. So IMO the EA is not looking for trends but simply low volatility with a strong surge.IMO, momentum strategies are the most trustworthy strategies over time. Martingales will always destroy an account. It may take 2-3 years but it will happen. I do wonder, however, if FGB is not over leveraging as 31% DD is too high for many big money traders...

A CORRECTION: I just realized that I had incorrectly calculated the average percent of gain for my strategy as taken from my 12 year backtests. I previously stated the average should be between 1-5% (which was actually a 5% average, but which I was stating as an EXPECTATION of 1-5%). The actual - corrected - average from backtesting is 11.6% gain per month BUT regardless of this figure from backtesting I will still keep my stated expectations at 1-5% per month.In my opinion a system must - MUST - produce significant profit on backtesting in order to have a CHANCE of working on live trading....

Again, folks, please be cautious of this company - fin fx - if you are ever even close to margin, like say their cut off is below 100% for margin call, as it is, and you have 170% margin, as i did, and equally hedged in a trade, they will get you at EOD rollover -- The spread will widen out and take you out. This happen to me twice while equally hedged and no news events going on. I feel like my money was stolen and fin fx, at best, allowed it due to the kind of banks they deal with. Please be cautious of this company. I have traded with them for about a year and I have experienced some losses due to errors in their feed or their system or just typical broker theft that is quite disturbing.Last night I tried to close 1 of 3 positions i was down the least on (for 170 pips) and 1 mini lot and instead a position i was down 250 pips for 2.5 mini lots closed and cost me a big loss. Yeah, I jumped into the micro account without calculating my risk. Too anxious and busy with too many things. I'm not use to trading my EA with micros and as I said in my previous post, once I realized my risk level was around 30% of my account per trade (making up 2-3 individual entries) I said oh crap, I guess I can't run my EA on a micro account with only 150. I just realized I will have to put more money in this account as I am risking a ridiculous amount of equity at the minimum trade size .01 X 3 positions. this would be around 30%.My first trade is for .03 X 3 essentially risking the account in a worse case scenario. I didn't calculate size properly in setting up the micro trading.This issue of calculating equity risk is another feature soon to be implemented so i will not have to manually try to figure the trades sizes out.So regardless of what happens with the first trade I will start the custom date later, once i get the equity issue ...
