Yes, EUR/USD and GBP/USD would be the best choice for now

I concur... on my live account I am trading 5 pairs (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, EUR/GBP, AUD/NZD, USD/CAD) and I would say 60% of my trades are coming from the EUR/USD and GBP/USD.

Hi All, message from Dustin in my email just now:
'Our Data center has reported a complete server failure and their backup system failed as well. We are working to get the members site back up however for now the most important thing is to ensure that you DO NOT CLOSE YOUR DEALING STATION OR TURN OFF THE EA. It will not re-authenticate. If you have already done so please manage your trades closely while we work to solve the issue. The authentication issues we are being told will be fixed by Monday and we will keep you updated on the members site so make sure you do not shut down over the weekend either.
Tradency accounts are not affected by this outage however you will need to log in using the log in link in your welcome email since the members site is down.
Working around the clock...
Dustin
P.S. The EA will continue to manage existing trades even if you lose authentication however it will not place new trades.'
Coincidentally I also see Henry Liu's Currency Meter is also not working so the server outage may well be affecting this as well.

How unlucky am I!!
I changed the timeframe on one chart and went back to the 1m at the same time as their server failure! 😕
The EA would not authenticate again and it reverted back non-authenticated on all my accounts!
I confirm....do not touch the EA until the problem is solved.
Dustin:
One suggestion for the next update is that the EA should not need to authenticate by connecting to your server every time there is a change of timeframe on a chart?!

HI All
Hoping Dustin will read this.
I use Ultrahosting VPS which closes down the platform for maintenance every Sunday. Therfore, I can see a number of issues for potential subscribers if the server is not up and running by the start of trading after the weekend.
Can you confirm when you say even not authenticated the ea will still manage trades, does this mean that if there is a basket and another trade needs to open within this basket it will do so or are left hoping and praying? Also if I have to restart my platform, when I place Toms ea on this will this be enough for it to mange the open trades?
When will you give us more options on tradency with brokers? Have you sorted out Alpari yet?
Also why does it take five days to restart the server etc?
Hope you can help

All, UPDATE!
I have just tried this:
- close down all MT4s (did not remove from charts)
- reinstall TOMs from .exe file
- restarted each MT4 one by one
Result:
- TOMs is still showing v1.88 (althought this might be because I could not tell the difference between 1.88 and 1.89 exe file and I might have installed 1.88 on top of 1.89)
- Is authenticated
- Is closing old trades and opening new ones, therefore I assume is working 100%
Although TOMs own page is down, I can see that forextraderdaily is back up, so that might have something to do with it.
The above procedure may be something worth trying on Sunday if the site is not back up and you are using Ultrahosting.
PS.
If anyone has a copy of v1.89 that you can message me that would be good 😉

Hi All
Just received this from Dustin
Hello Chris,
I want to give you an update on where we stand with Toms EA. In usual fashion I will be completely transparent in order to ensure you know exactly where we stand with things and what we intend to do.
After an all nighter this is where we stand. The server which the TomsEA site and authentication mechanism runs on was pretty much a complete loss. I am not a tech guy but the way it was explained to me is that one of the 5 drives crashed and while rebuilding itself the array was corrupted. For some reason or another a backup was not done on this machine since August (I am still fighting with them on this as all our servers are to have complete data backup) which was prior to Toms Ea. and means that the website and all the data regarding TomsEA is completely gone.
We were told that there was nothing that could be done. I told them that was unacceptable and after hours of back and forth with me telling them I needed the data recovered at any cost and them trying everything they knew to try it has been made clear to me that there is no way to recover the data. The site will be back on line within a few days as we have most of it backed up locally.
The bigger issue is the authentication piece. We also have a backup for that however it resides on our programmers computer and he happens to be traveling out of the country and is not able to be contacted at all. We have emails, phone calls and skype's to him in hopes that he at some point checks in but at this point we will not be able to contact him until Monday afternoon unless he happens to check in. This is a number of circumstances working together randomly to create an unfavorable situation. For some this means you will have market exposure potentially for three and a half trading days.
This affects the authentication of the EA which means if you are not currently authenticated the EA will no longer be active on your account. If you are currently authenticated you should remain authenticated unless you experience a service disconnect so its important that you do not shut anything down for now.
On to Trade management. A quick look at the Tradency model accounts which trade all 6 pairs shows that the draw downs we had experienced on the EurJpy and the eurgbp are for the most part over which is a good thing. In fact the hedging account has under $100 in open positions. This just means that if you are trading on an account that is unauthenticated its a good time to start winding things down manually and to keep a good eye on your account. The EA will manage it from a limit and stop stand point so you are not completely exposed but without the ability to add new positions the EA is drastically handicapped so please act accordingly based on your own comfort levels.
We will continue to push forward and make progress. I will also continue to update you each time we get any new information to make sure you are completely informed on what is going on and what we are expecting to take place. For me I will be looking to get flat on the accounts I have that have lost authentication. (yes I am dealing with the same issue on my account) I have found that getting flat is the easiest way to handle this type of thing and its the fastest way to get the EA back on track once we are online again.
I apologize if this email was somewhat disorganized or somewhat of a brain dump but it is late... actually I guess its early now :) and I did not want to go to bed without updating you and making sure you are 100% informed.
Looking ahead, a month from now we wont even care about this because we will have had another good trading month behind us but for now duty calls. Hope you have a great day and I am going to try to get 30 minutes of rest before I get back to work.
Dustin
I am currently at d/d of 7% with a number of trades open so I cannot go flat. Also still need to know if a basket is already open will it continue to manage and open trades in basket?
Thanks for the response Dustin and also please can you answer the other questions?
Cheers
Chris

Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents. There is a moderately simple solution (that is fairly annoying to implement). Someone from the company who has a working version of TEA (maybe connected to the tradency account) could post any new trades and their modifications done so that anyone with open trades could at least add them manually until they are flat, or TEA is back up again.
Just a thought.
Just a thought.

Heck, they might even be able to put together a script that could be emailed to everyone that would open the trade and make it so the TEA would automatically recognize it once it is up and running again.

Sorry to hit you with a third email but I think to much info in a situation like this is fare better than not enough. We have two accounts that are running the Tradency master accounts. One is hedging and one is non hedging. If you have lost authentication on your Toms EA and wish to continue to trade along with Toms EA this is a viable solution to doing so manually. You can monitor these accounts and enter trades manually as they come out. Its not ideal but we want to provide you with as many options as possible. These accounts update every 5 minutes.
Hedging https://www.myfxbook.com/members/fxtradertom/toms-ea-hedging/196298
non hedging https://www.myfxbook.com/members/fxtradertom/toms-ea-non-hedging/196302
Scroll down to trading activity to view open trades and sort by date to see the most recent trades taken. Keep in mind all positions should have a 600 pips stop on them as a safety net and the limits will update across all trades in a given basket of trades as a new position is made so take note of those numbers and be sure to update them accordingly.
Dustin

Changing timeframe works like re-attaching all items from previous compression on to new one, this couldn't be fixed or patched.. this is how MT4 stuff works

------------------------------------
An update --- as for now EA bypasses authorization just fine, it keeps managing and placing trades ( this is what I see on my end ) you might be required to restart MT4 to see activity
Tradency -- Tom's EA aka Profit agent is broadcasting trades in normal mode, last trade was sent at around 4 PM GMT

My EA seems to be working fine. Taking new trades as necessary. Can't get out yet as my DD is at 6.5% and with this eur/usd and gbp/usd continuing up it won't be getting smaller until that reverses. I just hope I don't have to reboot the server over the weekend.

Hi Statman thats what I'm worried about.
Just hope Dustin sorts this before opening on Sunday night here in the UK. Love Tom's ea but to be honest with the amount of money spent this should not happen, but lets hope it's only a blip.

Don't know if it means anything or not but I did close one of my platforms and restarted it and the EA went through the authentication process all over again and seems to be working fine. Its showing 'authenticated. Activated' and has executed new trades. Maybe things are not as bad as they seem.
