It's not about Bitcoin, FFS.
It's about the concept, the trustless ledger system. Bitcion is just the first attempt. Doesn't matter if it disappears. It does have problems, we know that. First car was also shit, so was the first plane. But they did prove the concept and today a person can climb into a Bently or RR or a A380 and waft around in supreme comfort.
Takes time man...
By the way, how much of it's value did CHF lose in 1 tick ? So Bitcoin is in good company.
True. And the power of bitcoin lies in its open-source system.
Remember, people were talking how good bitcoin was when it reached the $1000 level. Before then, bitcoin was 'worthless'. The majority ALWAYS, ALWAYS gets the timing of an investment wrong. Bitcoin will rise many multiples beyond the $1200 level reached last time. The best time to take advantage is NOW when the majority are trashing it.

The Greeks adopted another FIAT currency. Didn't help them at all.
If the whole world went crypto at once all our problems would disappear.
We need to decentralise government and money. Only way we're going to have any quality of life going forward. Get rid of all the spying at the same time. Otherwise its slavery for most of the human race. And as we can see by this thread it's decision time. We carry on with a broken system or fix the damn thing ?

I don't think they mean investment like a buy and hold thing. They mean swapping physical cash for for virtual cryptos.
Not sure how the whole world can adapt it though.
theHand
Can these cryptos be accessed easily without the use of computers, if so then its gonna be easier butnif not then most of the 3rd world would be left out and taken advantage of again.

Bitcoin is on smartphones now days. The protocal is actually written into HTML 5 as far as I know. So it's just a question of time before it's browser to browser. Won't be long before it's everywhere I think. Seemless NFC transactions, that kind of thing. Swipe your phone at the till. People do it already. ATM rollouts continue rather haphazardly. Google for one near you, see if its made it yet, if not, well there's a business oppertunity for you.
Look, Bitcoin is a very interesting solution to a very serious problem. Ja - I don't have my family fortune in it, but I don't think having a nice basket of crypto's on hand in these trying times can be much of a mistake.
Disclaimer here, I bank in SE Asia. If I was banking anywhere in the western hemisphere I'd put every bloody send I could into Bitcoin.
Africa (or 3rd world as you call it) is completely skipping banking by the looks of it. They're going straight for digital. Many Kenyans for example don't have bank accounts. They use their phones as bank accounts: https://www.economist.com/blogs/economist-explains/2013/05/economist-explains-18

You're probably right. I might very well be a clown. I care so little what CHF did that I don't really know if it was a loss or a gain. Point is it was a massive loss or gain against everything else. Kind of like Bitcoin does. Just saying that volitlity on majors can be just as bad if not worse than Bitcoin.

There are really no answers to what's coming. If it was only a simple market crash I'd be so happy. But this is going to be something else entirely. Not seen in human history I think...
All we can do is hedge the bets. Distribute risk across as many things as we can think off.
If we get real lucky it's a decade or two of deflation.
