For those using vortex and channel trader for a while now. Have you seen a trade down by -60 or -70 pips and then come back and be profitable trade? It seems rare
I'm just wondering if it would serve me better to put in a 60 or 70 pip custom stop loss in the settings. The problem is I just have no way of testing my idea because we can't backrest a trade copier. I wish Doug would give us two licenses so I can run one on a real live account and one on a demo account to test different settings since I can only forward test. I don't want to test on a live account.
What do you guys think? I'm only using it a month and I've seen two trades go past -50 pips and hit stoploss and only one that has been down -45 pips and come back and be profitable. There is still an open trade on channel down -45 pips and was as low as -65 pips. I closed it out already on my account because it looked like a buy order on a serious downtrend in the aud.
I wish Doug would backtest smaller stop losses like 50 60 and 70 pips and see what the effect would be on profit. If it doesn't decrease profit substantially but substantially decreases risk and exposure it would be worth doing. I have no way of finding out.

VTP has 1 order.
CTP has 2 orders.
All orders are in wrong way.
Believe in systems, they will not wipe my account. 😭
If for only 3 orders you are risking to wipe away your account maybe you used a wrong money management, unless you are using a very small account (something like a no deposit account) I will suggest you to fix it as soon you will be able to. Meaning you should lower your risk / lot used.
I changed from 1.0 lot to 0.01 lot yesterday.
I'm very happy now. ;)
Thanks.

Yes if a trade stays open for longer than 24h i take a closer look at the situation. As i stated before i closed out with -55pips.
Also CTP AUDUSD trade was closed manual with -70pips from me. I put a 1 lot sell trade instead and right now i have a beautiful trade running. Put the SL from CTP as TP :-)
To sum it up: VTP and CTP are normaly in and out in a short time. If the trades are floating for more than 24h take a closer look at the whole situation and decide if you let it run or not. Everybody is free to use his own brain as an additional parameter.

Great post @TradeNew ; I've just started using this EA and like what I'm seeing so far even though I was unfortunate enough to start just as it had a big drawdown - a look back through the account records seems to bear that this does not happen often. I agree with those who say that risk management and trade size are critical to success.
Just a thought for those on this forum who have suggestions to 'improve' this bot; has anyone asked Doug about this?
I'm a noob, but I thought this trade copier is only for EURUSD/GBPUSD; has anyone found it works on other pairs?

Thank you. Think the confusion with the pairs are related to the trades of CTP (channeltrader pro) which were discussed off topic here. But its also dougs system so vendor is the same. Anyway this system VTP trades only EURUSD/GBPUSD thats right.
BTW:
OFF TOPIC ON
I exit the audusd on CTP before news with a nice gain but as we saw the audusd shoots up and CTP closed out the trade in profit. The trade looked bad but manual intervention was not necessary.
OFF TOPIC OFF
Wish everybody a nice new trading week and many green pips!
