Economy of Argentina

Argentina is the second-largest economy in South America and is an emerging market. Historically, the country's economic performance has been highly erratic, with periods of great economic expansion followed by severe recessions, notably since the late twentieth-century income inequality and poverty have worsened.

The official currency of Argentina, the Peso (ARS), has endured extreme inflation and hyperinflation. In 2018, the currency fell by over 50%, and as of that year, the International Monetary Fund implemented a standby program.

Argentina has abundant energy and agricultural resources. It is endowed with exceptionally fertile fields, as well as gas and lithium reserves, and has enormous potential for renewable energy. It is a prominent food-producing nation with extensive agricultural and livestock sectors. In addition, Argentina has tremendous prospects in several manufacturing subsectors and high-tech service businesses.

Bank of Argentina

The central bank, Banco Central de la República Argentina (BCRA), is an autarchic organization whose goals are to develop monetary stability, financial stability, employment, and economic growth with social equity.

Interest Rate of Argentina

The Central Bank of Argentina is in charge of setting the Interest Rates to get positive real returns on investments made in the country's own currency and to keep the money supply and exchange rate stable.
