Economy of France

France's economy is the sixth largest in the world. It has a diverse economy and a mixed economic structure.

The French government has privatized several significant enterprises, yet it retains a strong presence in the energy, public transportation, and defense industries.

The government's commitment to economic intervention in support of social equality causes obstacles to the economy, including a restrictive labor market with high unemployment and a significant public debt in comparison to other advanced economies.

France is the most popular tourist destination in the world, the service industry generates the most revenue.

The country does not have its oil reserves, but it is the world leader in nuclear energy, supplying the energy needed to power its second largest sector, the manufacturing industry, which includes aerospace, automobile, armament, construction, and pharmaceutical industries.

It is also the sixth-largest agricultural producer in the world and the top agricultural power in the European Union.

Bank of France

Since 2002, the European Central Bank (ECB) manages the country's monetary policy and the French Franc was replaced by the Euro, becoming its official currency.

Interest Rate of France

The European Central Bank determines France's Interest Rate. The primary objective of the ECB's monetary policy is to maintain price stability over the medium term, which includes keeping inflation below but near 2%.
