Economy of Germany

Germany is the largest economy in the European Union and the world's fourth-largest economy. Since 1949, its economic policy has been based on a social market economy. This solution ensures a free entrepreneurial activity while attempting to establish social checks and balances.

The German economy is less vulnerable to a financial recession due to its inventive nature and highly skilled labor force, as well as its status as a leading exporter of automobiles, machinery, chemicals, medical technology, and other manufactured goods.

The service sector is the largest contributor to GDP, followed by the industrial and agricultural sectors.

The raw material concentration in German soil is low, yet lumber, lignite, potash, and salt are abundant. Germany imports most oil, natural gas, and other natural resources from foreign countries.

It is the world's largest manufacturer of wind turbines and the first major industrialized nation to move to renewable energy.

Bank of Germany

Germany was one of the first countries to establish the Euro as its official currency, and its monetary policy is managed by the European Central Bank (ECB).

Interest Rate of Germany

The European Central Bank determines Germany's Interest Rate. The primary objective of the ECB's monetary policy is to maintain price stability over the medium term, which includes keeping inflation below but near 2%.
