Ireland Residential Property Prices YoY
The housing index in Ireland is referred to as the Residential Property Price Index (RPPI), and it is used to track changes in the average price paid for residential properties sold in the country. According to Section 13 of the Housing Act (2002), eight of the largest mortgage lending institutions report data on mortgage drawdowns on a monthly basis. Prices are only recorded when a sale occurs. As not all residential real estate transactions are mortgage-financed (they are cash-based), they are excluded from the scope of the index.
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the EUR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the EUR.
