Consumption of food and non-alcoholic beverages accounts for 33.4% of the total weight in Jordan's Consumer Price Index, with housing accounting for 22%. As well as transportation (13.6%), education (5.4%), alcoholic beverages, tobacco and cigarettes (4.4%), furnishings, housing appliances and equipment (4%), miscellaneous goods and services (3.8%), clothing and footwear (3.6%), health (2.2%), recreation and culture (2.2%), hotels, cafes, and restaurants (1.8%), and communication (1.5%).
A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the JOD while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the JOD.
