5000 homes in the Philippines participate in the Consumer Expectations Survey, with approximately 50% of those homes located in the national capital region of Metro Manila, according to the survey. Overall economic conditions, household finances, and household income are all addressed in the survey's four questions. The indicator is calculated by subtracting the percentage of companies that respond favorably from the percentage of companies that respond negatively. The index ranges between -100 and 100, a positive value suggests a positive viewpoint, a negative value indicates a loss of faith, and a zero value represents a neutral viewpoint.

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the PHP while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the PHP.
