The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Qatar is formed mostly of the following components: rent, fuel, and energy (21.9%), transport and communication (14.6%), entertainment, recreation, and culture (12.7%), food, beverages, and tobacco (12.58%). Also included in this index are furniture, textiles, and home appliances (7.7%), restaurant and hotel (6.1%), communication (5.9%), education (5.75%), miscellaneous goods, and services (5.7%), clothing and footwear (5.1%). As of 2013, the national index has a 100-point starting point.

A higher than expected figure should be seen as positive (bullish) for the QAR while a lower than expected figure should be seen as negative (bearish) for the QAR.
