FXtrader2010, you are so right about the 5% target profit per month. To set up an account protection around that figure is very wise. Doing it will bring down the total risk per trading day. It also will bring down the risk percentage taking on individual trades. Patient is required as you say but it can pay out handsomely at the end of the year.

I agree with Jaco Ferreira. The best thing to trade others money may be on a commision based account. The account might still be in the name of the funder but the external trader handling the trades gets a commision on the trades made. The question is what kind of a return is expected to be received to the trader, trading the account? A general rule is 30-40% if the account makes a profit, and if it makes a loss nothing will be given back to the trader. With a leverage bigger then 1:100 does not imply you are actually gambling. It all depends on how your backup security is when it comes to risk & money management. A 1:500 leverage can be totally OK if you have the proper protection in place.

AlphaInfinity, if you do not have a daily target maybe a weekly one is more appropriate according to your trading system. It is definitely very important to have some kind of a goal setup so the EA or the cBot (depending on the platform used) can be customized within the prefered goal frame. I will agree with you that a daily setup is very uncertain and it will fluctuate but a weekly one or even a monthly one can be more accurate to use depending on the strategy at place. CrazyTrader I can understand your euphoria at the moment, if you are ahead. The thing is that it will not always go your way. The market changes, we do too, and ups and downs will be a part of the over all trading. Why not be at peace and except the inevitable of the fact that this is what trading is all about, ups and downs will happen and we have to be in control and cool in the down turn moments and the same goes when we are ahead of course. Protect our self and minimize losses when we are down and lock in profits when we are having a very positive period in our trading.

Regardless if we are labeled as traders or gamblers, protecting the account is the primary goal and sound RMM to be able to survive in the long run is needed. Now way around the fact that every successful gambler or trader will confirm this as a corner stone in their path to success.

CrazyTrader, so you think that RMM rules are stupid? Well if you loose $50.000 just because you did not use the appropriate protection of your trading account, how would you feel then? I bet you would revalidate RMM rules at that point! There is much to learn and to read about RMM that it will surely enhance any traders portfolio and knowledge by doing so. A good daily target is around 3% profit and then an equity stop on 1% profit after that. If the trading suddenly happen to go against you, then there is still enough profit to end the trading day in a positive way. How much this is in pips is of no concern as long as the positive percentage is upheld against the finale balance of the day. More ideas on this way of trading can be had by searching on google on the RMM Robot.

Wow! What a turnaround on the eur/usd. The question is, is the usd currency that much ahead of the euro in value?. At the moment it seems like that. Next week can be to be a totally different story when it comes to the eur/usd. As traders we have to be prepared that it can change very quickly. Protecting our self with good trading ethics and basics rmm strategies is a good choice at the moment. stevtheangle, there is not many EA's that take into the very important consideration of protection the whole trading account. RMM Robot is one of the robots that is totally dedicated to this task of protecting the account, regardless on how many positions that is opened at the same time. worldwide11, it all depends on the broker you are using. If it is a strict market maker broker instead of an ECN broker I would say that the performance of a demo account is better compared to a live account. ECN brokers is in my opinion do not differ that much between a demo account and a live account. Slippage can of course be somewhat more on a live account but on the whole an ECN broker is more reliable then a market maker broker when it comes to demo accounts vs live accounts.

kieran, I have been test trading a lot of demo accounts when building strategies and cBots. My experience is that demo accounts do not differ that much compared to live accounts. I worked mostly on the cTrader platform and mt4 might differ somewhat in this regard when it comes to the accuracy between a live and a demo account. Anyways RMM ( risk and money management ) should be a priority whatever platform one is using. RMM Robot is easily searched on Google to get more info on this so important subject.

A safe 4%? It can NOT be guaranteed! Does not exist but it is a very good outlook and just the understanding to have the trading knowledge, the experience and the knowhow that is required to get this kind of a return, it will give the trader an edge and will open up the possibilities of getting an even greater return on their investment.

Ben I agree, that is why we can not let individuals EA's to be in totally control of our trading accounts. I am of the belief that a separate EA or robot or cBot, which ever the platform one is trading on, has to have a separate "RMM Robot", risk & money management algorithm running that is dedicated solely for the purpose of protection our invested funds. Markets will change as it always has, we have to protect our self the best we can for these unpredictable moves that the market does.
