Economy of Mexico

Ranking fifteenth in the world and second in Latin America, Mexico's economy is a developing market. It is dominated by the service sector, followed by the industrial and agricultural sectors.

Mexico is a major producer of minerals, including silver, fluorite, zinc, and mercury. Furthermore, oil and gas reservoirs are among the country's most valuable assets.

The country is heavily reliant on the United States, the country's most important commercial partner and the final destination for around 80% of its exports. Mexico has the sixth-largest electronics sector in the world, and it is the second-largest exporter of electronics to the United States.

Bank of Mexico

The Banco de México, also known as Banxico or BdeM, is Mexico's central bank, monetary authority, and lender of last resort. Its principal goal is to stabilize the buying power of the Mexican Peso (MXN), the country's official currency.

Interest Rate of Mexico

Mexico's central bank (BdeM) is responsible for determining the Interest Rate in Mexico. Since January 2008, the overnight interbank rate (Tasa de Fondo Bancario) has replaced the number of commercial banks' current account balances at the central bank as the primary operating objective for the Banco de México.
